With the new VIIC/42 fully upgraded that I have now, is it possible that my qualified flak gunners could take on any of those planes? Oh, I made it out of that mission, see the video thread, with no damage. I followed the advice that the guys gave me. Rob |

I think that if the Type VIIC/42 u-boats were built they would have been almost invincible, no? Just look at how deep they can dive! 1,500 FT or deeper crush depth!! Once they fired all their bow or stern tubes they can just dive to 1,000-1,500 FT and wait it out? Surely there were no depth charges that can go that deep?
Not a fan of u-boats at all (American Fleet Boats FTW!!! Balao class w000h00000!!!), but the diving capabilities of the 42 stunned me. ![]()

Yes, you're quite right indeed. Depth Charges can't go past 300m, in fact if you dive near 500m i dont think even the sonar can pick you up. Like they said in the movie U571 "the germans know how to build boats!"
Question tho: Is the thicker hull of the VIIC/42 simulated in the GWX 2.0, firewise? I mean, i sure would take more hits than a normal VIIC without suffering too much, is this simulated in the GWX 2.0? |
