Remember also that when you lock the scope/UZO that is where the torpedo will hit. Do not send another torpedo in the same spot. If you unlock the scope/UZO and place the crosshairs on another spot on the vessel, click the check mark to update the weapon officer(do not hit the L key or it will lock again to the same spot) and now the torpedo will go to that spot. You are not limited by the locking of the scope and UZO. You can aim it anywhere, just remember to update it with the check mark

I swear to god, the ships in GWX lol... they take hits for fun! I put three torpedoes into a LArge Cargo, wouldn't go down, but was crippled.

I put I think, 4 into a medium tanker and that was only crippled, I had to lose the Black Swan first, before I could surface and finish them off with my deck gun, I only have 3 paltry torpedoes left now!
Aim at the forward 1/3rd of GWX ships. Veru often one torp will sink them.

Not sure if this has been changed in GWX, but as for large cargos in GW 1.1a, I found that aiming at the very front of the bridge with impact pistols set to 3m was nearly always a 1 shot kill.

Not sure if it helps, but just my $0.02

Well ive got a bit of a story was patrolling out of gib and I met a large cargo. I fired 4 torpedoes 3 at the large cargo 1 at the large merchant 2 hits on the large cargo its going down. Then I turned and fired my 2 aft torps at a medium merchant. It missed it and hit a large cargo which sank with 1 hit. Be patient with GWX ships take time to sink I normally use 2 torpedoes on the large cargo's even though they can go down with 1. Sometimes they wont go down with even 3 if they all hit in the same place. Practice makes perfect.

Ive been playing GWX for almost a week now and have amounted 500K GRT its currently 1941. When you get the hang of it you will be wondering how you didn't realise it before.

I also like firing my torpedoes deep I find there aren't as many weak spots in GWX and theres a ton more in stock SH3 I like to fire off keel runners because that way no matter at which angle it hits the ship it will cause damage and possibly sink it especially the ones which hit a bit to the left or right side as it easily floods a compartment when you get the bottom part of the ship then the side of it creating one big gap.

I've lost my patrol, I think the saves were corrupted or something, I have to start it over again. Which means that 33,000 tons is now well and truly gone! d'oh!

Did you try to load the game via SH3.exe and not SH3Cmd? Some times it actually helps as SH3Cmd copies files to the game. As a word of advice though always rollback SH3Cmd before you enable/disable mods and you should be doing that while you're in port and not at sea.

Good Luck

Watch were you save. Never save around ships or submerged. Never save while in port. Sucks but it is what it is

Yeap, saving is one of these things which you should do only when you're alone and no one sees you. Keep it secret.

Saving is a bit of a nightmare sometimes.Quite a few times recently I've wanted to save and go to bed only to have a merchant - or even worse a destroyer turn up. As these guys say, never save in port, under water or near another ship(and that means wrecks for me as well)

Good luck P.G. you'll sink a load more yet

I have saved while underwater, and 9 times out of 10 had no problems with it.

But, there is always the one time, I will load up.... and there will be lookouts on the conning tower while submerged, and I can even go onto the conningtower, fire deck guns, you name it!

My crew are really mer-men, they are just trying to keep it a secret. Or maybe they want to drag me back to Atlantis to turn me into a mer-maid but they are in for a big surprise, because if they think I am going to spend the rest of my days as some kind of "fishwife" they are sorely mistaken!

The only way to get rid of temptation, is to give in to it.
