As much as I liked Connery, I think this new guy Daniel Craig really fills the bill as Bond. He's a confident athletic actor, his icy blue eyes hold the screen like a vise, and he pulls off the one-liners in his own gruff way. I was worried while watching the film that the classic Monty Norman electric guitar theme music was gonna be left out. Was quite relieved when it made it's triumphant comeback at the very end.

Connery will always be my sentimental favorite tho.

If you're looking for Badass, DC has plenty of it! Sean will always be my sentimental favorite too. I ranked Brosnan as number 2 behind Connery but I think DC may have just changed my opinion. Will need at least one more movie to finalize my opinion.

I saw Casino Royale and I thought it was great. It was a refreshing change from the norm (although I did like the norm as well).

Hum, I chose Sean Connery as my favourite Bond, but as a devoted reader of all 007's books, I have to admit that none of the actors yet does fit correctly to a 100% the Bond you see portraited in the Books.

Connery had charisma and was -what is most important- very believable in his role. Yes, he looked as a tough guy, one who has fought many battles and is not scared, as well as being strong enough to make you believe he can really take on all those enemies in a fist fight. Sadly he had dark eyes, while the Bond in the novesl as steel grey ones. Other than that, pretty convincing.

Dalton was possibly too pretty. Yeah, blue eyes and black hair, as well as a powerful body (He is a very tall guy), but his attitude was too soft, sand his gestures too exaggerated, specially when doing fighting scenes. He was not believable as Bond.

Moore -lol- possibly the best actor to bring out the comic and ironic part of Bond, sadly not convincing. Too prone to close his eyes when shooting a weapon and too soft looking.

Lazenby -probably just one film and right after Connery left was not the easiest way to make a debut, and he paid for it. I found him however never wrong as Bond -he was physically big enoug and convincing when fighting-. probably he was however too gentlemanly soft when not in action scenes, it was not easy to accept the change to a fighting machine in the next scene. Not coherent as a whole.

Brosnan - Oh, come on!!! who would believe that such a soft and little boy can perform what he did in the screen?. Also, in his movies technology and exaggeration reached new leves. It was never believable what you saw in the movie, it was like a high resolution playstation version of Bond. I think that the PS version had no difference with the movie...

Now Craig - addmitingly the worse problem he has is being blond (Why on hell was that not solved?? The cheapest special effect in cinema is some hair-tint, for heaven's sake!!), but he looks rude and cold-blooded enough to fit in Bond's shoes. I will happily wait for more Bond films of him. And probably if the next ones pleases me enough, I'll send him some hair-tint for free

As for the critics of what he can or can't do in real life -that doesn't matter, he is only an actor. Mel Gibson needed lessons of driving a car with clutch and manual shifts when he played ... Mad Max ....(If you don't believe me, watch how he hadles the car in the scene of MM2 when he is watching the helicopter of the Gyro Capatain. He almost stalls a big block V8 at low speed during the scene...Oh God)

Funnily enough I read somewhere that Fleming -who assisted in the first films of Bond- commented that Connery looked too rude, and that he had in mind something more like David Niven when he wrote his books. Hard to believe if you have read them but....

My 2 cents

Casino Royale, best Bond film ever. Just seen it. Daniel Craig is great, better than Sean "Oh look at me, I'm so cool" Connery.

Hey Craig didn't look too Blonde in the film.

Want to read the book now. No gadgets, or lets say no unbelievable gadgets.

Can't wait for the next one.

Just saw it, four thumbs up (big toes count). Craig is appropriately cold and lethal. The first Bond movie that had no "Oh gawd" moments at all. When Craig as Bond makes a quip, it's infrequent and unexpected and twice as effective as Connery and Brosnan. This Bond looks atheletic enough to handle the crap Bond gets in.

My complaints: Bond hardly had an accent. But he killed plenty of people, so I'll let that slide.

This movie rocked, I left thinking "can't wait for the next one".
