My crew said good bye to U-125 IXC as they have a new home U-177 IXD2. Mid to the end of 1942 saw the odd kill here and there and a lot damage inflicted on me. Early 1943 saw no end of rotten weather, May and June saw a return to the happy times in the Caribbean sinking medium size ships but aircraft now becoming a real pain, some good news for July 1943 I got T-IV's now it's pay back.

Kaleun Hans Mayer reporting.

Whilst out on patrol we happened upon a large convoy. We pulled away and I ordered flank speed to overtake. Once in postion we dived to around 80 meters and intercepted from the 2 Oclock area. When we reached 80 meters we went silent and levelled out at around 48 meters through natural boyancy. We snuck under the lead destroyer, and as soon as we were clear I ordered a depth of 14 meters.

Imagine my suprise to find a Dido class ship right in the middle of the convoy! I ordered a speed of 2kt's, secured from silent running and lined up on her. As soon as the angle was right I opened the tube doors and launched 4 magnetic torpedos at her. When all torpedo's were clear, we dived at flank speed to about 150 meters, heading under the convoy.

The destroyers started pinging us at around 60 meters, but we held our nerve and carried on at flank until we got to 150 meters, where we went silent and turned 10 to port. This was when we heard all 4 torps hit, from the sounds of it she went down pretty fast.

What followed was about an hour of depth charging, never near enough to do any damage. After the hour when all sounds above had ceased, I ordered periscope depth, ahead full, and secured from silent running. Sure enough the destroyers had gone. We surfaced and started to celebrate our biggest sinking in ernest

All done in 80% realism whilst using GWX - drinks are on me when we return to port

Excellent attack!

Though, I would have cut flank and gone silent at about 60 meters. Of course, being deep when the escorts arrive is the best insurance. I'll be ready for the drinks .

Cheers mate

From what I could tell from the hydrophones they were still quite a way away.Plus as I was heading under the convoy(a tactic I use a lot) it was probably quite difficult for them to get over me(well that was what I was praying for anyway)

U-123
26 May
WSW of Belle Isle Strait
Force 8 gale, clear. Found myself in the middle of a convoy. Fired two torpedoes. Checked depth after firing
43 Meters!
I thought my bum was history.
For once I was glad both torpedoes prematured and convoy merily sailed away.

Default RIP Kaleun Grassler

Oberleutnant Johann Grassler, commander of the U-123, has been lost with all hands sometime on December 22nd, 1940 in the vicinty of Scapa Flow. His last orders were to infiltrate the near by naval base, attack and then fall back, his first order was completed, but his second was not. Caught in sudden shallow water, and taking on heavy flooding in the bow compartments, Johann had no choice but to surface and await capture.

Instead the British opened fire, puncturing the hull with Flak and cannon rounds, killing the surrendering deck crew and sending the remaining crew along with their Kaleun, to the bottom. His loss has left a small reward of 45,432 tonnes of merchant and military shipping being sunk in his 5 patrols...

U-52 (WAC) VIIB
patrol 8.

left willemshaven and set course to scapa flow (again ).

on my way i got attacked by whatsoever (was havy fog and rough sea) so i ordered to crash dive. later it turned out to be a armed trawler. (damn bernard)

after a hour or 4 i finaly could surface again.

on 12 january i arived in scapa flow and started my usual attack (but the brits still didnt learn it)

i sank all destroyers there and raided the harbour. then went ashore and visited my girl there. buyed some drinks and the boys went to the pleasure house.

then on 14 january i left again and went back to willemshaven.
