I wonder, the world would erupt in protest at a nation practicing slavery or apartheid, but this is ignored. Think of the millions of NKs who have had their freaking minds rotted by this psychological poison.

Depends on the nation, it took quite a few decades for Apartheid South Africa to collapse, and that was more through internal than external pressure.

NK nuclear weapons "a matter of time"

If something is being created by an enemy and all you do is talk about stopping it, it will be created. Same with Iran. Why don't the US Presidents just save their breath and stopped saying "a nuclear Iran/N Korea will not be tolerated". Yeah? Whatcha gonna do about it? Nothing.

Barbara Tuchman indeed! McCain making a lot of sense here.

Da, either you take an action to remove the nuclear weapons from the DPRK, or you accept the DPRK as a nuclear nation and take steps to contain it. Of course, accepting the DPRK is a nuclear nation is a difficult political move to make, because then the DPRK will demand the removal of sanctions and the ROK will demand its own nuclear arsenal to assure the balance of power. What they're doing at the moment is using a part of both options, they are taking steps to contain the DPRK as a nuclear nation, but they're not giving it any wiggle room by denying that they accept it as a nuclear nation. It's a bit of a compromise, but that's how it goes.

Now, we just have to wait until Kim makes his next move, to act before then would be exactly what he wants us to do.

I believe they would have done something by now were it not for the fact NK is right next to the PRC.

I reckon if the PRC and US could strike up a deal or understanding the young leader wouldn't be in power very much longer but I suspect he knows this.

The PRC could be sleeping in both camps.

They are no Jewish state.

But we give him plenty of headlines over non-news on page one, every day. Kim has squeezed a pimple. Kim saw a leaf of grass. Kim has cut a hair in his nose. Kim felt an itching in his right ear. Kim said "Hm...". Kim looked at someone. Kim did this. Kim did that.

Some newspapers spread the propaganda stories by NK news office so willingly and euphorically that one could mistake them to be a part of that apparatus.

The US will give NK free stuff.
Let's look at history for a minute:
1993: Clinton gives NK free food and oil, courtesy of the taxpayer. This is after NK launches a missile into the sea of Japan, defiant of international sanctions.
1998: NK launches...wait for it....another missile.
Congress attempts to to stop the food and oil, free of course, but, Clinton keeps the freebies coming.
2002: Bush in his infinite wisdom discovers that NK was making nukes the whole time. Bush acts and cuts out the freebies, ie. food and oil.
2006: NK tests its first nuke.
2007: Bush, flip-flops, and gives NK...you guessed it, freebies of food and oil.
2009: NK tests another nuke and launches missiles. The US stops the freebies again.
2012: Obama says we will give you food and oil if you stop the nuclear missile program.
But...before the freebies could be delivered...another missile is launched!

So, NK is very good at getting their freebies. For absolutely nothing in return. They have nukes, missiles, and they are doing it all over again. What comes around goes around.
NK has time and time again been rewarded. And for what?
More chest-beating, more sword-rattling, more posturing, more idle threats...to get the freebies again.
And if you say sanctions? They don't work.
Not with NK.
