My main problem with this is no one's posting there either. I don't expect the devs that post here to make an announcement about the lack of patch. Some insight into what's causing the delay would be cool, but not expected. They are here as a favor to the community, not as their jobs.

What I do damn well expect is that when someone from Ubisoft posts important information about Silent Hunter 5 to the German Forums that they post the exact same information to the English forums at the same time. That is not happening. That is a problem. As far as I can tell there simply is no English language support team for Silent Hunter.

No, that couldn't happen could it?
Don't forget about how it screwed up my mods. Or This game is worse (after they installed the mods back that don't work) I always loved that one.

Apparently the sky is falling according to a few people... and UBI should burn in hell for it.

I'll happily sit out in the sun and enjoy my iced tea while everyone gets all bent out of shape over UBI. I can't wait to see the bitchfest over the micro details the patch doesn't address. lol

Probably the reason why they are silent.

It happened. The computers even had bugs in their own ROMS, the speccy had ROM bugs that caused parts of BASIC to not work properly and the Z80 CPU, well that had a whole load of instructions that didn't quite work properly with an alternate set of switchable registers, so they were just not documented, as they weren't reliable. It's just people didn't really seem to get that irate about it. JSW crashed on the last room, which was annoying, but I think people just accepted it was like that - quite strange. Elite came with a LENSLOK device that only worked if you had exactly the right sized TV and then not really very well and you had to guess mostly. If you got it wrong, you had to reload the game, which wasn't quick - now that was restrictive DRM!

EDIT: Erg, thread merge. Added original quote.

We might as well wait until they get it right. Nothing worse than a buggy patch.

I rather enjoyed AoC ... especially the 1.04 state (patch) but the community is what actually kills that game. Great potential but it's like trying to play with the Socially Retarded.

But what I did learn from that experience is that, though it takes time, patches do come ... and they do fix some of the bigger issues. Here's hoping? The self defeating mind-set is getting old folks. Stop denouncing their efforts (devs, not the shirts) and embrace the tight community you do have. Even if it does take a MoD team to fix things sometimes.

TheBeast can attest to the horrible community that is AoC ...

Default 30 Seconds of terror followed by days of boredom

Like it or not apparently they have created a realistic subsim as the wait continues:

Any bubblehead knows that supply never gets the correct part the first time or for that matter if it is correct it is broken...
Or
I finally really learned to play cribbage...
Or
Does Volcanic ash effect DRM
Or
Your my wife and these are my kids????

Yep thanks for the downtime.....
