OMG, i got rocked so hard by a DD after attacking a convoy he almost sunk me.
With some tricky use of the blow ballasts and then leveling off before i get to the surface (then sink back down), i was able to keep from sinking long enough for my crew to repair the bulkheads and pump out the water just as i was about to run out of compressed air. But.. Both prop shafts were damaged, 2 diesel engines destroyed, and 2 electric engines destroyed. I was able to surface once the DD's went away and spent the next few days on the surface waiting for the crew to repair the shafts. Finally they fixed them, but im still dead in the water. Why, if i still have 2 diesels and 2 electrics functional can i not move? http://i.imgur.com/z1HqWlg.png |

Remember, SH4 only "simulates" two engines each, not the four. Going by your image, both sets of engines (and motors) are out of commission, no propulsion, and they are not on the list to be repaired. I don't know how a boat ends up with diesels (especially) "destroyed" when a boat is submerged, but the electrics... well... it's probably that, since the diesels drive the electricity that supplies the electric motors that actually drives the shafts, so therefore, the diesels are showing as destroyed?? Speculation here, that maybe they attempt to "simulate" that?? My question though would be, what could be so catastrophic that at least one of the electric motors won't turn?... maybe to where a person could do like 5 or 6 knots?...

Another surprising thing: as long as you are charging batteries you are using fuel at the same rate as ahead emergency. This is why you want to have batteries at 100% as much of the time as possible. Too many people think that they're cruising at 9 knots so they don't have to worry about fuel. That isn't necessarily true if you're not on top of your battery state.

The composition is also always predictable: 1-2 factory ships, 4-6 whalechasers, and 3 escorts (1 DE and 2 Corvettes). On every war patrol I've run from Midway heading west into this general vicinity, I've encountered at least one whaling fleet, and generally 2+. I run into them no matter what route I take, and even when I reload from the save leaving-base-autosave and I take a different route. |

"So far, I'd say it has been between late 1942 and into 1944. I've encountered most of them a few hundred miles E to NE of the Bonins. I don't recall having ever seen these fleets anywhere else.

Just completed the Feb 18 '44 recon to Yokohama mission from Midway and encountered 3 of these convoys. Also, the recon symbol was at Ishinomaki harbor instead of near Yokohama. |

OK folks, that is one of the "convoys" that was "turned off"... You might see one with a similar make-up as far as the whalers, but very rarely with that many, and maybe ~one~ escort, not three... We'll get it. Thanks for the confirmation jldjs and Obi Heed Kenobi...
Edit: OK, they are in the Merchants layer... three groups most layers, with two of those coming by your Bonin Islands area, and four of them in another file, with all turned down by over half, and I'll leave the escorts a mystery... ...btw, one comes from southern Borneo and goes east, and one by NZ, then both of them 'follow the chain' to Japan. The 3rd comes from up by Kiska. I don't remember the 4th one's origination... Last edited by propbeanie; 01-23-17 at 08:42 PM. Reason: changes have been made... btw |

No. There is a fake Narwhal in there, but the Bonus Narwhal is that, a Bonus. Therefore, we are not at liberty to "share" it...

Oh, I didn't mean literally share it, but something like optional UPC files for example. Something modular where you would have to have the original.
