Sounds very interesting.

A little disappointing that it isn't DCS quality...but not unexpected. I'll look into it. There aren't many combat flight sims that cover these conflicts. I'll put the Vietnam one on my Amazon list.

Well to be honest DCS is a bit much for me the only plane I could handle was the Su-25 in Flaming Cliffs 2 and the KA-50 in Black Shark after much effort. Also the level of detail that some of the mods for Strike fighters has like certain areas of North Vietnam at DCS level quality your PC would jump off the nearest bridge because it would be on fire.

The Strike fighters games can be pretty challenging though you still have to doge SAMs and AAA and all of that it just has more IL-2 level controls. The air defense is very intense in the Vietnam one with the mod I mentioned so much so around a high priority target the AAA can be so intense it makes accurate bombing difficult just as it really was in those days they either dropped at a set radar point or they dove(usually the later) they did not yet have the fancy HUD showing with the clip.

You only get one pass really turning and trying for more is very risky that is how many planes got taken down in North Vietnam if AAA was the culprit. The Sa-2 SAM where a threat but they could not cover every altitude or possible angle of attack and with each SAM battery if the radar was taken out all of the missiles where useless.

Here is a shot of a USMC F-8E on a close air support mission near Da Nang the bombs are snakeyes they had fins that popped open a few milliseconds after release to slow them down.F-8s usually carried a load of snakeyes and four packs of "Zulu" 5 inch rockets(the white tubes) each Zulu has about the same power as a 5 inch shell.CAS missions are usually a bit easier little to no AAA but they still pop rounds at you sometimes. If they where on a CAP,escort or strike they would carry four AIM-9 sidewinders on the same racks where the Zulus are on this F-8.

Operation Barbarossa, October 11th

Blue line represents the territory to be taken before the end of October. Only Panzergruppe 'Hoth' and 'Kleist' have been successful and ahead of time but due to lack of troops they are unable to move forward and can barely keep their positions.

The operation began with only around 1.2 million troops (even though the operation started as late as at the beginning of September) which meant that there were almost no tactical reserves. Major failure in planning. Lack of troops is starting to show now when front line is stretching and there are pockets to circle and destroy. Germany has to hope that it manages to force Soviet Union to its knees before they are able to muster enough forces for counterattack.

Be also advised that the flight models are extremely simple. No comparison to Il2 to DCS.

Sounds good. Sounds like something I want to play.

Roger, Roger. What's our Vector Victor?

I'm used to games with less-than-realistic FM's. IL-2 and some of my older flight sims are just not up to par with the realistic sims. I like them though.

Thanks for telling me.

Operation Barbarossa, November 1st, 1941

Pockets have been cleared but October line was not fully reached. Heeresgruppe Mitte faced more resistance than expected. In some places forward units have been stationary for almost two weeks. Lines are thin but cleared pockets have relieved some troops which are on their way to reinforce the front line and prepare for the last push before winter towards the red line which is the objective for the 1941.

16. Armee is pushing towards Leningrad to threaten soviet forces in Finland while Kurt Student's 1st Parachute Corps are tasked to take Helsinki back.

Only real progress has been made in the south by Von Rundstedt's Heeresgruppe Süd and particularly by Kleist's Panzergruppe. Süd's objectives for the following month are Sevastopol and Rostov.

Haven't played HoI III for years but now, with the latest DLC Their Finest Hour which I bought from the last GG sale, I'm hooked. It's better than I remember. TFH's new plan editor is quite fancy and that's the reason I'm posting these really.

I've only played the demo. I want the full game very badly.

Oops...I wanted to say you can't compare Strike Fighters to IL2 or DCS...Il2 is actually fairly good physics wise.
Don't know why I screwed that sentence up, I guess my mind was already somewhere else.

Default HunterICX is Travis Pastrami*

Take one bike, one multi-storey car park, one episode of Nitro Circus, one bit of wood stacked agains some stuff, one impatient friend waiting for the action shot whilst being shot at by police, and finally, one HunterICX and the result is the picture above.

HunterICX then landed just behind me and rode off into the sunset whilst I was gunned down by the fuzz.

Note to self: Read up on how to not be the woman next time!

*I know it's Pastrana
