go check it out. should be right to the southwest side of the harbour.

U-24, type IId, returns to Constanza after 10 days in patrol. We only got one small merchant this time. The Romanian air force showed up and sank the tanker we had crippled, thank you very much Out of six fired torps we had one dud and two misses. There are talk on the base that we might get homing torpedoes in time for the next, ninth, patrol

leaving kiel for the last time and set sea on a raiding mission (loch ewe and scappa flow).

18 February 1940.

10:00 arrived at scapa flow and entered from the east. target only warships.
10:12 3 destroyers spotted. firing at 1 for a decoy (always handy to sneak up to the batleships)
10:16 torpedo hits. decoy sucsessfull. other destroyers rush to the spot.
10:20 silent running and passing the destroyers.
10:30 batleship (revenge class) spotted and firing tubes 1,2,3 and 4.
10:32 3 torpedo's hit. one dud. batleship starts to roll over.
10:40 moved up north and firing tube 5.
10:43 torpedo hit and batleship sinks. destroyer comming towards me.
11:10 barely escaped with my avantage of range.
11:20 exit scapa flow from the west side and continuing to loch ewe.
18:30 destroyer spotted at enterance of loch ewe. firing tube's 1 and 2.
18:33 torpedo's hit and destroyer catches flames.
18:40 destroyer explodes and sinks.
20:00 entering loch ewe and dives to PD
21:00 more warships spotted.1 Fiji and 6 destroyers. 13 torpedo's left.
21:30 firing tubes 1,2 and 3 on the Fiji.
21:35 3 torpedo's hit Fiji starts sinking. Destroyers come to find me.
21:40 firing tubre 5 on 1 destroyer and tube 6 at another. changing course to north.
21:45 1 torpedo hits a destroyed (that sank in 2 minutes) and other missed.
21:50 firing tube 1 to the other destroyer again.
21:52 torpedo hits and destroyer catches flames. firing another torpedo.
21:55 torpedo hits and destroyer breaks appart.

19 February 1940.

00:10 sank 2 other destroyers while escaping. leaving me with just 2 torpedo's.
decide to return home.


25 February 1940 passed the channal and docked at willemshaven.
got some havy damage while passing the channal.
lost 8 crew members and 1 officer.
got the knights cross.

all torpedo's missed,no ship sank,out of fuel and gun ammo.

struck a mine when entering home base.

shot down 8 planes.

U-72 VIIC claims the odd ship here and there Jun41-Nov41 this veteran crew say good bye to U-72 as they hand her over to a new crew. My veteran crew have been given U-125 IXC Dec41 shakedown complete ready for the new year.

Ran into a nice convoy last night and sank a fair few ships. Launched my last torp at a large merchant, which if sunk would have taken my total patrol tonnage over the 100k mark.

The damn thing zigged and the torp missed and sunk a small tanker running the other side of it. Total tonnage for that patrol, 97066k. Still waiting to join the 100k club.

Aug 13, -43, 0830, Eastern Black Sea.

U-24, IId, of the 30´th Flot. Sank an heavy transport yesterday and survived heavy dc attacks after that. Went down to 130m. The manual says 125m is max. No damage. This morning we sank an Uragan, only 700t, but she crossed our T and it´s always a good feeling to sink destroyers
Two torpedoes left and plenty diesel and provisions. Pressing on
