I just got the minitweaker, but I'm pretty
much clueless as how to use it to make underwater brighter. I downloaded tweakfiles too and opened scene.txt and got to 'underwaterfogend=12' line, but can't figure out what to do next. Can anybody help? Or can I use .dat file editor if there's any? If there's one, where can I get it? (thryo, tweaker here http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/ SH mods (general section), under heading SH3... |

For a different water colour Time Travelers colour inspector would be the better option. For Underwater Fog settings then Time Travelers minitweaker is the go. With both ppl can get just what they like.
I set my fog to Fog Close 16m/Fog Far 22m (I hexedit mine tho). And colour I changed back to default (I dont like the feeling of flying through space instead of being underwater). Why did I do this, because I just like to watch the light refraction/reflections on my boat as it plies along underwater. To me this is 1 of the best FX in the game. It feels like a waste to me to not be able to see it anymore. |

Hello Cdre Gibs,
Could you be more specific, like how you export tweaked values to SH3 folder? I would really appreciate if you could lay down the whole underwater model tweaking process step by step. (sorry for asking too much) |

- start Minitweaker
- open tweak file "scene_dat.txt" - select category "underwater" - enter new value for "UnderwaterFogEnd" (higher for cleaner water) and save this new value - close minitweaker - go to your X:\SH3 folder\data and delete file "copy of scene.dat" |

Thanks geralt,
but not much luck for me. ![]() I increased fogend values and got much cleaner and sharper underwater but too dark blue color is still there. Maybe I should've posed my question differently at the start. Yeah, I want to change underwater color to stock one but... After Kpt. Lehmann's deckgun fix, underwater color is the only problem I have with GW. Other than this I'm very happy with GW. I guess I'll just go with the mod's underwater. Too bad I can't see bubbles rising from my sub... Dang ![]() |

about the colour...
I didn't change it but probably you have to edit the ENV files EnvColors_arct.dat, EnvColors_atl.dat, EnvColors_med.dat in SH3\data\env folder. Compare the GW and stock version but I can't say which values are important... just a suggestion you may try to revert to stock some of these: ambientlightcolor, waterlightcolor, waterdarkcolor or the underwater* will be a hard job cos each env file has 21 categories I hope someone will show you the right direction |

Guys,
First of all the NYGM is a Realism Mod, as such, we will as best as possible deliver this as long as gameplay is not negatively impacted. Your version and my version of 'not negatively impacted' are different as I see no negative impact from making the periscope a non-all seeing item when submerged. I cannot stand the arguement 'Then don't use it'... Imagine if the Devs just said that for everything? Don't use it instead of not having it and/or giving you an option? Not acceptable when it comes to games and the same for Mods. As far as options go, we can try and include some, but we cannot accomodate everyone's needs as often there are many cross overs. Anyway, the solution is... Use TimeTravellers Minitweaker and open the scene_dat.txt then set the value UnderwaterFogEnd in scene.dat file to the original value of 18, currently 7. You will find the UnderwaterFogEnd in the 'underwater' drop down menu. |

I've tried that already and got some result.
But my problem is more of underwater color issue than fog or clarity one as I found out. I guess there's no simple way to change the GW underwater color to the stock one unless someone in the GW team lays out in detail how to go back for people who are not happy with the new underwater model. But I guess it'll be too much to ask... Thanks for your help anyway! |
