I think some of the merchants have upgraded detection capabilities, too. I was getting shot at from all directions when I raised the scope...searchlights, too.
I would like to post screen shots but don't know where to send them. They can't be embedded in my posts. I will save some so I can send once I find out how. I hate to tell everyone this but I received my new computer parts today, so I'll be off for a bit. However when I return, I'll be running a new system an AMD FX-55/GeForce 7800 GTX with a gig of ram! scrapser |

My system is finished and SH3 will soon be back up. I thought over this two-convoy situation while building the PC and believe if I play my cards right, I can attack the northern convoy from a distance, turn, and head south as part of my exit strategy and be in place just in time to attack the southern convoy (which is steaming slower).
Should be interesting. scrapser |

I had to let the two convoy scenario go. I replayed the encounter with the northern convoy about two dozen times. It's January 1944, just before sunrise, 7 m/s winds, light fog.
No matter what I do, the instant my scope breaks the water's surface, I'm instantly attacked...guns, floodlights, escorts running at flank speed...it all happens like turning on a light switch. I find this highly unrealistic and disappointing. I mean, I've got the scope up barely enough to see the ships...half the time there's water on the lens and it's still almost fully dark, too. You'd think there would be a minute or two before detection was achieved. I really hope they tone down this aspect of DD behavior or at least make it possible to tweak detection a bit so it plays out more realistically. I'm not saying dumb down the DD's, just emulate how long it would take before detection occurs. How would the ships know where my scope is going to pop out of the water so quickly and have the guns trained on me? Anyway, my new system is wonderful. I bought all my parts from NewEgg.com and most were 33 to 45% cheaper than buying in local stores. For example, I paid around $129 for the motherboard and stores were selling it for $199. scrapser scrapser |
