Putin started the war in Ukraine. I suppose the US started both WW1 and WW2 in your opinion as well?

Yes, and our involvement in this brings with it a tremendous risk of nuclear war and ending the world. So we have to ask what good does that do for anyone and how important is this cause?

It doesn't matter what we think, Russia is fighting to defend itself from what it sees as aggression by the NATO military alliance. If we think there's a good outcome worth pursuing in this and that they are ever going to back down we are in serious trouble. Popular support in Russia for this war is still very high.

Hi, first of I want to say that whatever the results are from these arguments or debates are that I really believe you and I are on the same side and that I think all of us here are on the same side. My goal is to see that and the danger we are all in and why. Also, my beliefs regarding this issue have stayed the same but a large amount of the information I now have I've just found in the last few weeks looking into the origins of this conflict and how we got here. I used to follow the news and international politics but haven't been recently so I have been doing a lot of catching up since the war started. So please don't think of me as someone who thinks they are some kind of expert or know it, some of these things I've just learned days ago and I'm learning new things every day. And in a lot of ways wish that I was wrong. Right now I just have a lot of sadness about what's happening in the world and what has happened to my country.

So to answer your question I will agree Putin started the war, however, I believe America caused the war. And that story starts back after the end of the cold war in the '90s when America promised the Russians that NATO would not expand east of a reunified Germany.

I don't think America started the World Wars. I do believe that America's involvement in the war in Ukraine is more similar to Vietnam and the 2003 Iraq war which involved misrepresentations and lies. This explanation by Senator Bill Bradley from 2008 is one of the earliest things I found and still one of the best I've seen that helped me understand what is really going on today. What he calls "a monumental blunder by the US."

-Tim

Yeah, about a week ago it became clear to me for the first time how our faults are going to lead to our inevitable destruction, and humanity is doomed. I was about to give up again but then saw how much Hillary Clinton is involved in this war against Putin, that I said "I'm not going to go down like that without a fight!"

I don't believe we should have expanded NATO east ward either. However, have you noticed that the people in the various ministries within Russia all have hundreds of millions of dollars socked away in banks accounts in Switzerland and other places.

There is no way these people made that kind on money from their jobs and positions. What Putin and others around him have done is steal the revenue from oil exports and others and use an eye dropper to distribute funds to build and maintain an infrastructure there in Russia.

People there are poor and kept that way so, it isn't very much different from the old Soviet Union. The people in Russia, like everywhere else in the world, yearn for a little bit of comfort, security and happiness. I think they deserve it as well.
Just like America right, how much comfort, security and happiness do we really have here in the land of milk and honey.? I don't know where you live but every morning down Florida. What leads the news Who got shot killed overnight. We have people who get up in the morning and go to work for ten or 12 hrs a day come home take care of their families and do it all over again. And then we have a culture of people who only come out after dark. And these people create the news i wake up to in the morning.

No you silly goofball. The US didn't start those wars. Back then we let all combatants bleed themselves and this Encompassed both wars.Only then did America show up. Now in the present well we just have to get right in there even after we hightailed it out of our 20 year adventure in the middle east sorry we didn't let you know But Corn Pop appeared in a dream in our leaders head and it was time to go. We the Americans are going to get you Europeans into a Nuclear War don't worry it will be battlefield nukes maybe. Poland has again been chosen to be the spearhead of democracy and i'm sure the 23 year olds 1999 when they were accepted into NATO are ready to rush across that border with the American 82nd . cause you know all the media says Russia who has more nukes than the United States is just a varsity team that is losing. Right

How in the hell does conserving our oil improve our national security ? Last year some bad actors with a laptop shut down pipelines that pumped up thru the northeast .where you on spring break in florida? and now joey and the democrats have had to release millions of barrels of our strategic stock that will only last 3 days.If you are getting 37 MPG with AC on all the time and in sport mode. Biden as well Macron, Johnson, Scholz all said the same over and over again. No no fly zone. No troops. No ground war against Russia. No intervention.
These statements stand. This topic is needless as long as this does not change.
