He claimed that he punched Jesse Ventura in the face. In fact, Ventura never even met him, and Kyle's estate lost the slander suit that Ventura brought.

Kyle also claimed that he and another person sat at the top of the Superdome in New Orleans during Katrina, and sniped looters. Umm...no.

He also claimed that he killed 2 men who tried to carjack him in Texas. No evidence has ever been found for this.

Strange how none of this made it into the film.

Given this blatant dishonesty and lack of character, I think he'd jump at the chance to claim a medal he didn't earn.
I've heard the Ventura suit verdict is under review for judicial misconduct. But still, the other 2 stories Kyle told are bogus.

Don Shipley does a great job busting fake SEALs. The absolute worst of them is definitely Bill Brockbrader.

Edit: Back on topic. The moron who wants Kyle to get the Medal of Honor is doubling down:

It is gross to make a legacy off of someone elses service, and any politician who does so deserves something done to them. He will most likely get re elected, because in his commercials he will state that he stands up for the veterans, and loves our American heroes

*cue My country tis of thee playing while Chris Kyle pictures and the American flag waving*

Jerky McJagoff For congress, this message is approved by Chris Kyles corpse, and you hate America, and veterans if you DO NOT vote for ME!
It depends to me really some of the people that impersonate it kind of clear that they arernt all there. The man in the mall had been busted for impersonating police officers before. I can agree with the man getting mad at him as the impersonator was clearly all there mentally.

Some of the videos I've seen though they get a little bent out of shape and are seeking to make a big video of it. I mean just say hey you're a phony now get lost. I actually saw one where the person got carried away and another vet said chill out with it in this case it was pretty obvious that the person dressed up was not all there.

Also I knew of a Vietnam Vet that had severe paranoid schizophrenia he lived in one of those half way house deals. Anyway thus guy would often stand and direct traffic some people thought he was just waving and gave him an American flag which he kept. Now this man sometimes he'd wear partial uniform. If you where to walk up and ask him chances are high that he might give you a strange sounding story which would lead one to believe that he was not legit when he was. This is why I do not agree with the overly aggressive clips you can find. Shipley checks and double checks then he gives the person a chance to recant and stop their claims only then dose he post their "deeds" publicly.

As to the Texas Congressman that type of thing will always occur and unfortunately many people fall for it but what is political office ever anyway but a person saying what they think their largest likely voting group wants to hear? I'll bet he well pleased the people he wanted to please.

Kind of brings to mind the whole 2004 Pat Tillman situation where the DoD and the White House mightily tried to turn his death into political and propaganda advantage for their own agendas. If Tillman had not be killed in the manner he was, the Homeland plot line would have been dismissed as "fiction" and anti-American. Truth is very much stranger than fiction and those politicians and other government officials who prey on other's tragedies are worse than any villains conjured up by the minds of writers...
