Israeli regrets over clash fail to end Egypt protests

Thousands of Egyptians have rallied outside the Israeli embassy in Cairo for a second day over the deaths of five Egyptian policemen.

One demonstrator climbed the building, took down the Israeli flag and replaced it with an Egyptian flag.

Israel earlier expressed "regrets" over the incident on Thursday.

It happened on the Israeli-Egyptian border as Israeli troops pursued suspected militants who had fired shots into Israel, killing eight.

In response, Israel has carried out a series of air strikes on targets in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 15 people.

Palestinian militants have fired more than 20 rockets into Israel since Saturday night.

The Cairo-based Arab League is to hold a meeting on Sunday to discuss the crisis.

In the latest violence, a rocket killed one person and injured at least four in the Israeli city of Beersheba on Saturday.

Israeli sources identified it as a Grad rocket, adding that two children were slightly injured when Grads hit another town, Ofakim.

Israel-Gaza violence causes concern

International concern is growing over a fresh wave of violence between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants.

Israel has carried out air strikes in the Gaza Strip, while militants have been firing rockets into Israel.

The trigger was a series of attacks in Israel on Thursday when eight civilians died. Five Egyptian policemen were killed as Israel pursued the gunmen.

The Quartet of Middle East peace mediators - the UN, US, EU and Russia - has called for restraint.

Errrrr...they have got the same military rule they have had for decades but with a different general, where is this democracy you are on about?

They killed Egyptian police inside Egypt and initially claimed they were terrorists and then claimed they had been killed by a suicide bomber and then said errrr...ooops sorry we will look into it.
Isreal must like any other nation show restraint in hastily trotting out lines as a matter of course that will probably turn out to be very wrong. A bit like britains recent episode of sillyness where "policemen returning fire after a trigger happy gun nut stated shooting them" turned out to complete bollox.

Let the election happen tomorrow and there will be no Egypt.
Are you asleep or something?
Face it already or you just will keep on finding excuses why things did not went according to your imagination.
there is NO sane major party in Egypt just a bunch of groups that vary in their extremism united under islamic or anti zionist flag.
There are democrats but just because they are so=it nullifies them.
Military GOV is the best they may have currently.

Tribsman
It was a coordinated terrorist attack with shooting happening all over the place....not some imaginery thing in your head.

It sill does not justify Egyptian reaction...if it was to be sensible one.
Its populist reaction to please blind hate.
Israel has to be the psychiatrist of course.

Strange that, must be something to do with having essentialy a one party military dictatorship for six decades.

The kefiyah covers the whole political spectrum.

Point out what was inaccurate in the piece you just quoted.
You do like to avoid issues don't you

Which reaction? the protest outside the embassy, the threat to recall and/or expell diplomats, the demand for an apolgy, the request for authorising troop movements, the joint inquriry??????....which Egyptian reaction is so unjustifiable?

Would that be like the episodes directed at the Hadash participants in the Israeli protests? Or indeed your own "Arabs are......."?.

Israel needs a to see a shrink just as much as the other countries do

He provided a link.
No he didn't.

If it's wrong you need to show why.
He made a statement, that was challenged as wrong on several levels and he was unable to address any of it.

@ rockster
Quote:
MH it's easily explained.
Yet you obviously are unable to.
Indeed I can safely say you are talking total bollox.
You could however prove me wrong, all you need is a single statement by me simply supporting terrorists or calling for the destruction of Israel.
Given all the posts i have made relating to terrorism and Israel it should be easy for you...unless of course you are talking total crap.

It appears to me it's simply one island of religious terrorists supporting another island of religious terrorists.
errrr.... which islands?

It's all they know, it's what they grew up with and are taught as children by their governments and self apointed self rightoues religious leaders.
Are you living in a bubble in some strange fantasy land. BTW your pictures are from the wrong place, I don't want to get you too confused over geography but perhaps try and find out what you are talking about before you make more silly statements

Nice link BTW. so nice of you to provide one, unlike MH
wow a writer from PJMedia that bastion of integrity.
Nice, perhaps you shouldn't have as a headline of "glenn beck is right" doesn't float to well when Israeli media is running articles about him being a jew hating bigot who is a ranting demagouge that is clueless about Israel and the middle east...a prime example of someone claiming to be Israels "friend" when they are really their enemy.

No MH, it is just that you are unable to deal with what is written and either invent an imaginary position for someone ....or unfortunately all too frequently come up with some of the most ridiculous falsehhoods to try and make a case that you know simply doesn't stand.

But hey you finally provided text .
Bit of a problem though, the world should be greatly concerned that the PA gave up waiting and joined in a unity government.

.
You see tribesman there are no issues to deal with because you actually never change me with anything. Most stuff you write is just bull.
I can write those smart ass meaningless "challenging" statements just about any topic.
Your style of conversation may work with some little kids.
Still its fun sometimes to dance with you.that's why you are not on my ignore list.
And no i don't post links to prove my case.
I don't like those stupid google link wars.

I know, as I said before you have a bunker mentality.

If that were the case you could show it to be so, but instead it is you who is repeatedly unable to back up your statements and you who is often shown to be simply lying.

I know, you often do, but you get stuck when it comes to meanigfull statements that are not even that challenging.

If that were true then it should work on a bunker mentality

Its fun to watch you try and attack comments made about your statements when you are so frequently completely unable to defend your statement itself or attack the actual comment that was made about it.

Isn't it funny that all your ranting in this topic started over a post saying that Israel like any other nation should try and get its facts straight before it makes a comment on an issue that may be contentious.
Cue the instant bunker mentality

But BTW have you been keeping up with the IDF link you were introduced to, it is rather good for news in your errr..."local expertise"

Israel and Hamas agree Gaza truce, officials say

Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group which governs the Gaza Strip, say they have agreed to a ceasefire after five days of violence.

The latest clashes began when militants crossed into southern Israel and killed eight Israelis on Thursday.

Subsequent Israeli air strikes on Gaza killed 15 Palestinians. One Israeli was killed in rocket fire from Gaza.

The Quartet of Middle East peace mediators - the UN, US, EU and Russia - has called for restraint.
Informal truce

A Palestinian official said that Hamas had agreed to ensure that the ceasefire was recognised by smaller militant groups in Gaza - which were responsible for most of the rockets fired at southern Israel in the past few days.

Prior to the announcement, Israeli media reported that 12 rockets launched from the Gaza Strip landed in southern Israel overnight. No injuries resulted.

But on Monday, Gaza's Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) - last to agree to the truce - agreed to halt rocket fire against Israel as a "temporary" measure "for the sake of the Palestinian people".
