I just got back from my vacation with my girlfriend to Orlando, Florida and a visit with Hogwarts. Needless to say, she's as big of a fan with Harry Potter as I am with History, so this was quite a trip for both of us.

It got even bigger, when, in front of Hogwarts castle...

Nice!

Congratulations. Hope she said yes.

I think the Frau (Berbunch, not Kaluen) and I are just going to do a long-weekend city break, whether or not we'll drag the kids along is another matter!

Thinking of York as it's not a million miles to travel, and is still very nice.

Would love to go to the Lakes for the umpteenth time (bar last year - Herefordshire!) but the Frau, despite what she says, really doesn't like either rain, or walking far!

Have just glanced at couchsurfing.org, and it looks great, would love to just grab a flight and kip on a couch!

But again, the Frau would disapprove.

PS Congrats, Chad.

Yes, she said yes.

After a few tears rolled down her cheek I asked for one more picture

She was still crying in this picture too but I told her to try to smile, people are taking pictures

It felt great, and nothing could have been better.

As for us, we are driving out to San Diego with the kids. We'll take in Sea World, the Wild Animal Park, and the Zoo(maybe ). I've convinced my wife and daughter that they would enjoy seeing that Russian sub(the B39 IIRC) and the USS Midway as well with my son and I.

As long as we get to put our toes in the Pacific Ocean, I think we will all be happy.

PS Congrats, Chad.
Then you need "mission" persuasion begin, or a compromise ... to take place so then, resolves itself,as I hope for a quick easy solution

My family loves to travel, and I can share some tips:

China: Every tourist location is a scam and a rip off, there are tickets for everything, and they cost a lot (some places charge up to 1000 RMB or almost 100 euros)

Philippians: cheap, fun, 5 star hotels, etc. The equipment and stuff are quite bad though, so if you want to do some diving or fishing, bring your own.

Cambodia: Ankor Wat, is worth going to, the rest of the country is not. Inflation is rampant, so don't even bother converting your money. USD is the de facto currency in tourist areas.

Malaysia: average place, the malls are good, but western brands are expensive, nothing much of interest.

Thailand: worth going to, the hotels and stuff are cheap, and there are historical sites of interest.

Singapore: Great place for some shopping, and just general relaxation. Again, the luxury hotels are far cheaper than in Canada or the US

Australia: Must see, I spend a month there, too many good things to do, and i love the seafood and steak. Though its way more expensive than south east Asia

New Zealand: great lamb, great scenery, We spent a week there.

Canada: great if you love the outdoors, but luxury travel is limited and expensive. More expensive than the US

United states: surprisingly, one of the cheapest vacation places. food, hotels, attractions are all the cheapest in developed country.

Anyways, I love to discuss travel, those are the places i have been to
I hope however, that it gets a little recreation over yet.

I enjoy the Dueling Dragons coaster. The main attraction was not open yet. Great park! Congradulations and many happy years.
