What vacation plans have you and your family?
Some people like to plan, and careful preparations for taking leave .... if such exist, some people like spontaneity, and now that summer is behind the door, at least in some parts of the world, what will you do, or want to do.....
I myself will go down to the southern part of Europe, and then, probably a little longer trip, which is not entirely clear yet, the record of time. |
I'm broke and unemployed :(
But that's not terrible since I plan to spend at least a couple of weeks in July with my parents at their very lovely place on the lake, up in the woods of Quebec - perfect for the july heat. You can literally jump out the window into cool water if you feel like it :) http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p..._4089962_o.jpg However assuming that I'm guaranteed a teaching job for the fall, I will probably also whip out my credit card and take a trip in August to see friends in Virginia and North Carolina and spend a couple of weeks with them. I've been all over the US in the last couple of years, in fact I've seen more of it by now than any other country in the world, and I love spending my vacations visiting various friends there  |
Its all work and no play for me this summer (I have my grade 10 piano exam, and my harmony exam)
but I will have 1 free semester at the end of grade 12, I well use that time to go to Europe, Africa, South America, the places I have never been to. My family loves to travel, and I can share some tips: China: Every tourist location is a scam and a rip off, there are tickets for everything, and they cost a lot (some places charge up to 1000 RMB or almost 100 euros) Philippians: cheap, fun, 5 star hotels, etc. The equipment and stuff are quite bad though, so if you want to do some diving or fishing, bring your own. Cambodia: Ankor Wat, is worth going to, the rest of the country is not. Inflation is rampant, so don't even bother converting your money. USD is the de facto currency in tourist areas. Malaysia: average place, the malls are good, but western brands are expensive, nothing much of interest. Thailand: worth going to, the hotels and stuff are cheap, and there are historical sites of interest. Singapore: Great place for some shopping, and just general relaxation. Again, the luxury hotels are far cheaper than in Canada or the US Australia: Must see, I spend a month there, too many good things to do, and i love the seafood and steak. Though its way more expensive than south east Asia New Zealand: great lamb, great scenery, We spent a week there. Canada: great if you love the outdoors, but luxury travel is limited and expensive. More expensive than the US United states: surprisingly, one of the cheapest vacation places. food, hotels, attractions are all the cheapest in developed country. Anyways, I love to discuss travel, those are the places i have been to |

We'd prefer to be spontaneous, but my wife has surgeries scheduled many weeks out. We want to go someplace for at least a week (Hawaii?) but have not decided yet. We'll certainly do several long weekend type trips closer to home (Colorado, maybe San Francisco again, etc).
We might make home more appealing in the heat by adding a pool (which might be non-trivial given the fact we're on a bit of a slope). |
Me and the Frau are moving to a new apartment - that's how we'll spend most of the summer: packing, carrying boxes, painting, etc...
If we both have some time left, we'll do a spontaneous trip, probably to Northern Europe. Either we will raid Vendor's country and be in the outdoors or we'll do a city trip, Copenhagen and Helsinki are still on our list. Maybe a combination of both, depending on how much need for recreation we have. |
