Default Earth avoids sure disastor...

A large... very large solar magnetic flare went off on Monday. Fortunatly for us is missed the earth.

I'm no astronomer, but it looks to me like it missed the Earth by a really really long way.

Keep in mind that earth is about the size of the 'little' hole that the filiment came out of

If it had been aimed in the right direction it would have engulfed our little blue marble.

The ejection would have hit us eventually, if it had been directed towards us, and that would have been....interesting. No frying of course, but a good percentage of the worlds electronics would have gone zzt.
IIRC there was a conference in London on dealing with the effects of a large CME hit on the Earths magnetosphere not so long ago.

Hmm, a solar flair, yea, that would be bad if it hit us, modern society would break down quick, with the power grid down, most all eletronics fired, and people in panic thinging we were all gonna die.
