Silent Hunter 5 has the potential to be far better than both 3 & 4. I know it's not quite there yet, but after a few months there are gonna be some amazing Mods and I urge you to please give it another try.

I voted SH3.

SH4 is the better platform, has better graphics, lets you play both sides, has much better crew management, faster loading times, crews on the the target ships, better radio graphics (love that clipboard as opposed go being taken to a new screen) and a host of other things.

But SH3 has the full harbor supermods, which no one has done for 4 yet, and it has SH3 Commander, which gives the huge variety of crew names and ship names (and we all now how I feel about that last one), and it has the Simfeeling 6-Dials mod, which is my favorite GUI. SH4 and 5 don't have those (yet).

So I like SH4 and play it just as much as 3 (probably more once I reach 1942 in my campaigns).

I completely agree, and as soon as I can play it I'll be buying it. I think it's going to end up blowing them all way.

I actually agree. SH5 could potentially blow away the previous engines.

I'll give SH5 a few years. It looks potentially good.

Default Your call

i say SH4 for all the reasons posted here. And you can say what ya want but sh3 is not as pretty as sh4. as sh4 is not as pretty as sh5 but sh4 has more you can do. Im staying with sh4 for a little bit till sh5 gets a lil less buggy then im off to mod that .

SH4 probably has more versatility compared to SH3, not sure about SH5 though. however, all of them are amazing games in their own right.

Out of SH3 and 4 i like SH4 far better when it comes to the graphics but i tend to play SH3 more. Ive lost count on how many times ive said 'nah SH3 is dead time to put the game away for good' Then a month later I find myself playing it again.

Had to vote SHIV. V looks like it could be phenomonal, yet its DRM scheme is an extreme turn off for me, and others it seems.

As such, I wonder how dedicated the amazing mod crew will be to a game so many people seem to oppose on principle.

Default Best one?

Surely the best of the series, is the one that suits the player best. I care little for loading times (what price a great sim?) or whether one's waves have more foam than another's. What I care for is the immersion factor, playability, longevity and being able to set up the entire thing so failure is always right around the corner.
It's a matter of personal choice rather than a definitive poll of which of the series is 'best'.

Politely abstained.

Probably a good thing, since the poll is three years old and was based on SH5 when it was brand new.
