@ Drifter

I think it's all in your interpretation.

Look at my first post here in this thread:

Ok, go for it.

VANILLA
, (no patches or maybe 1.1 only) I wonder how much time it will take before you uninstall them.
You took it as an offence, then you said that

Just to be clear, my post wasn't an offence, I QUOTED YOU, you said that Vanilla SH3 and SH4 are way, way better.

Then if it's really what you think, go for it, try SH3 and SH4 VANILLA, but I'm pretty sure it won't be long before you uninstall them. If you take it as an offence just because I disagree with you, then it's another story.

But bash Meo because he don´t share your opinion, sorry mate but you lose some sympathy from my side.
I wasn't bashing him.

No problem. This was not intended to be a SH5 SUXX!! thread. I don't want SH5 to fail. But I won't sugar-coat the obvious. I call it like I see it. That's all.

As of now, I am heading back to heavily modded SH3/SH4. If and when SH5 is patched up and completed, I will give it another try.

It does?
The forum archives have very, very few negative posts about SH3 a few weeks after release.

Correct. The initial release of SH3 was not half as broken or unfinished as SH5 is. Very worrying indeed. Rose-colored glasses?

No problem on my side too.

But I did the same (not because I really hate SH5, but my cpu is having a hard time in handling SH5).

But even with heavily modded SH3 I got tired, because it always come down to ''go there, sink ships and come back''

Now an interesting thing in SH5 is the dynamic campaign, but for me, what I'm really looking for is Wolfpacks (and interaction with BdU), now that would really be a different and refreshing experience! ...but I really wonder if we'll see that someday...

I am not saying that SH3/GWX is the end-all, be-all of games. It's not. I too grow tired of some of SH3's old hard-coded bugs/features. I really, really want SH5 to succeed. That is why I spent so much time trying to learn the new modding tools. Luckily it is much more moddable than SH3 was. The AI moddability is incredible. What we do need is UBI to fix the hard-coded problems in SH5.

Wolfpacks are in the game. I noticed them in the campaign editor. But I'm not quite sure how they are implemented. And did you know damaged enemy ships can surrender? Cool feature, huh?

From what I understand is that there are AI operated U-boats, but they are no coordination and/or interaction with BdU, but only ''chances'' that AI U-boats join the attack.

Really !?

How it works?

Warships, merchants or both?

I think any ship can surrender. Maybe even Allied ships. Not sure, though. Their engines will shut down and guns will stop upon surrendering. Whether you decide to blast them out of the water after that is up to you.

Look in the scripts folder. You will see the different AI scripts. The U-boat AI script is very, very interesting!

This is all from memory, but if I remember the AI scripts correctly, they can do practically anything. And I mean anything. All tactics can be adjusted. Hell, even new ones can be added. As an example, you can adjust whether U-boats shadow a convoy, how long, etc. There are also ship 'false surrenders', where the ship pretends to surrender, then start shooting and attempts escape. But the script notes say this feature isn't implemented yet.

AI U-boat submerged times, depths, speeds, attack tactics, etc can also be adjusted.

That is why it pains me so much to see other parts of SH5 so broken. There is much potential here!

I saw both "HasSurrender" and "HasAbandonShip" in a screenshot. Opens for possibilities, all right.
