Surrender?
How can anyone in the KM even consider that thought. You fight to the very end for the Vaterland. You can always shoot yourself when honor is lost.

If you surface, hit escape and select end patrol you will be informed that you will be surrendering.

well, Kretschmer surrendered. And then he went on to efficiently organise the POW camp, even doing a court martial in secret and sorting a couple of strikes and escapes I think. If surrender was a good enough option for him, it should be a good enough option for you

No, that's about right. It's a figure of speech, like "easier to swallow" meaning "easier to take" or more acceptable.

Droevige mijnheer Ik spreek een weinig Nederlands van mijn tijd levend in uw aardig land

Acceptable or agreeable to the palate or taste.

Acceptable or agreeable to the mind or feelings: palatable ideas.

Bernard Dumkopf never surrenders! Instead he dances the Hoochi-Woochie with a elephant tea cozy on to the tunes of "Der Fuhrer ist gute" and confuses the enemy!
