WOW. It makes the reload time in RFB seems fast if anything. I average 20 seconds with a good crew and in battle stations. I just spent 2 minutes lifting 70 lbs up over my head and It takes a toll on you. I cant imaging what it would be like on a rocking platform with something I defenatly didn't want to drop. Luke, or anyone really, where there ever any cases of a dropped shell detonating?? |

Shells don't randomnly explode (except certain, poorly made varieties) when dropped. They have to fired and gain sufficient speed and impact on a certain kind of surface. Dropping an A-bomb from a forklift doesn't destroy everything (this had happened). Sloped armour on tanks can cause shells to bounce off of them, so a 6 foot tall man dropping a shells (presumably) sideways wouldn't blow off half the sub.
Hopefully, a more qualified member can expand on this a bit.

You have some options to make it faster. Call battles stations. The gun is then manned and stays in positon. The elevation does not. However if you engage a fishing boat do it from 400 meters or so. This way you bore sight and dont have to Zoom on the gun sight. If you have to use the sight because you are firing from a distance then train the gun on the target first. Say you are about 2000 meters away (good place to be since you are out of range from 20 mm and machince guns) Then make sure the gun has been rotated to the right angle Press U for TBT range data then go back to the gun. before zooming raise the cross hairs above the target then zoom. This will set at the distance u raised the cross hairs to. Lets say u guessed wrong and when u zoom it goes 3000 and your target range is 2100 then use the shift key and arrow key to get where you want to go. One more thing. If you lose the range and have to go back to tbt. find the range and use your right hand on the wheel of the mouse and scroll as soon as u press to change to the gun station. This will stop it from going all the way back to zero. Try to stay on the first zoom if possible. That way you can time your shot by the roll of the gun barrell. Zoomed all the way you cant see the barrell move. Anyways thats me story and I am sticking to it. ![]()
