Does the Johnston Island and other small bases on the map serve any porpose? Or are they just map references? Can one top off the fuels tanks running stock SH IV Gold? Just wondering.

Not realy, just reference point. If there is not a blue anchor there there is no fuel there.

Default Got it

If there is a blue anchor what is the proceedure for refueling? Is it save and exit or just the amount of time spent at an anchorage?

I am somewhat surprised they didn't include Lot's wife in the game. This was also used as a reference point by mariners.

It is so easy to remark about what they failed to include. I got a laugh, in a good way, about "all the bubbles being the same size". I am thankful for what all they did include.

Old as I am I recall the pinball games of way back in the latter half of the 20th century. Back then we thought they were state-of-the art, and indeed they were. Many of you remember the "pong" game of the mid 70's. Almost as bad as disco of the same period.

Television was also different. No VCR's, you were at the mercy of what to watch. You yearned for a war movie-at least I did, and if by chance it was a WW2 one that involved submarines you were lucky indeed.

Now here we are playing a game that features such an enviroment and I truly feel lucky to be able to do so.

A computer whiz I am not and it is beyond me how some of you can modify the game, add things and such--in short, make all the bubbles different sizes!

I have SH 3 and 4 and enjoy both and I find a vast amount of helpful information here to allow me to enjoy it in a standard I never would have thought possible.

I too enjoy "smelling the roses" as I conduct a make believe war, of being on the bridge and admiring the gulls and friendly ships in port. Unlike the real heros of this game, the ones who actually fought, we have a camera where we can follow our torpedo tracks as they head towards their targets (if we chose to).

Of all the PC type games, the subsims are the ones I enjoy the best. No run shoot run shoot type, but a laid back approach with the moment of attack and evasion.

If there's a blue anchor you just need to go to that location and "park". You'll either be prompted for "refuel/rearm" or you'll see a small icon in the upper right hand corner of your screen once you're close enough to the geographic location, click on that and you'll be prompted again.

Hell you dont even have to park, just get close enough, click the button and poof your instantly re-fueld (and re-armed). I think you have to be at a low time compression.

RFB added a note about waiting... uhhh 4 hours? but that is if you wish to role play it that way.

Default Worked great

I gave it a try last night. At Johnston Atoll. It worked great. I did go right to the sub tender even though I knew I didn't need to go that far. Except for some reason tube 7 received .82 irrepairable damage during replenishment. Most likely a freak accident? The tube sill worked during the patrol. So no big deal.

Thanks for all the help.
