I've been dreaming of something like this for a loooooong loooooong looooooooooooooooooong time. Maybe, when we have über PCs to calculate everything game like that would need we just might have one. And of course, merchants would be playable too. Kinda like IL2+SHseries+DC+Virtual sailor. Something for the subnuts, flyboys, surface chaps and casual sailors.

The first thing I'd do would be to take my 109, find Jimbuna's Type IX leaving the harbor. Climb waaaay up to the clouds and then dive down like a maniac, leveling off just on the side of the boat and tap Jim to head with my wingtip. :p
I believe you would

Kinda reminds me of the beginning of the film Top Gun

Great vids, Dowly! I'm seriously tempted now to trade in my diving planes for a set of wings and dust of the old joystick again... IL2 sure looks good... :hmm:

Nah...I'd better finish my career first. It's only October 1939 yet.

Those IL2's are just crazy! But there's a weakpoint, the radiator is sticking out of the bottom, hit that, no matter the caliber and the engine starts to smoke and lose power, eventually dying.

And that fricking armored cockpit! I made a test month or so back, friendly IL2 flying straight and level, me in a BF109E, unlimited ammo. I shooted to the back of the cockpit for ~10 minutes from point blank range, not a scratch to the pilot. :rotfl:

You nearly got me there, Darth Dowly! But not yet...not yet...

I played IL2 a year or two ago when I got a copy from a friend. I really love the action and feel of those old fighters! My friend is a combat flight-sim freak (honestly, he would see that as a compliment) and he told me I should absolutely try it. I think it is a really well-made flight sim, but it has one major drawback: I suck at it.
Seriously...I got shot down more times than I can remember. Perhaps it's because my controller is not very good...it's older even than this computer and not really suited to flight-sims. Perhaps with a better controller...

But for now, Darth Dowly, I am a sub commander

Trust me, the wrecks carrying my name are covering half the Russia. Everyone sucks at it in the beginning, the flight model is completely different from the rest of flight/combat flight sims.
