Don't you think that if someone was developing a new subsim or a next generation SHIII /SH4 we would have heard something?

This is just a question that regularly keeps popping up on this forum. I'm guessing people are hankering always for the 'next gen' version. Human nature. Two months after a SHV release, they'll be needling about SHVI.

I don't think so , Silent hunter is a game which has a soul and which has a community they canno't play with that Personnally i'm interested by U-boats only (i'm waiting the UB missions to purchase SHIV ..) . two things that i'd really like to see in SHV it's an enhanced seafloor (algae , corals .. and why not fishes) and AI subs i think the only reason why they didn't put it in SH3 it was because of the limitations due to the CPUS which shouldn't be a problem now and also milkcows which doesn't end the mission don't know if it has already be done in SHIV ..?

I hope you're right. Corporations like UbiSoft have a lot of things. Soul usually isn't one of them.

what rumors? Ive heard everything from a cold war scenario to uboat action. Matter of fact those are the only rumors Ive heard.
I personally would like to go back to the uboat war, using the members of GWX to play a key role in its development. I wouldnt even care about improved graphics, as I find sh3 to be just fine. Eye candy is nice, but having a true uboat simulator would be tops. Including everything from AI uboats that are smart enough to dive and fire torpedoes, to large wolfpack tactics... needless to say it should be very immersive, and having sh3 graphics would free space for that immersitivity. Also have a better weather pattern generator.
Ive seen the cold war add-on and the uboat add-on, but it seems to be coming from an incomplete sh4, which has me hesitant on the purchase of said games.

Rumours?

First thing we knew about SH3 was when it had already reached alpha stage. And nobody believed at first that it was being developed by a romanian team (In fact, many people admitted they couldn't even place Romania in the map )

IMHO UBi has now a Dev Team with huge knowledge about naval simulations that have produced some beautiful sims. They would be mad if they didn't put that knowledge to a good use :hmm:

I think they'll wait and see how much money SHIV brings in first

I would be nice to have a modern warfare scenario maybe then i could fire cruise missles:hmm: . which would actually be quite fun, destroying merchants fom miles away seems like a good idea.

silent hunter series seems to have a specific era in mind, that being ww2. Anything past that would be great but it wouldnt fit the SH franchise profile. Also given that at least in my oppinion that ww2 sub technology is far more interesting tacticaly speaking I would think that the next SH would again be an upgrade to the ww2 theme. Granted a cold war scenario would be cool in its own right but to me it just wouldnt be SH.

Honestly If I were Ubi I would throw III and IV together in an all inclusive package
Fix alot of AI problems (wolfpacks and Destroyer tactics) and add Italians or British or Japanese. Update the graphics engine used in III and IV to the max. Hire the GWX team to due their magic and "Viola" You now have SHV!

I think my meaning was perfectly clear. If that's the way your minds work...well, more power to you.

If all the SH3 fans had bought SH4 as soon as it was released, I bet there would have been a much larger 'add-on' than just the u-boat IO missions. People buying SH4 now (at half or less of the price) will have a devalued input into the total revenue of the product. The publishers only care about that figure.
