Your concern has already been answered concerning the AI. You read this answer, but here it is again to remind you.

I can't say it any better myself.

Well , this is a simulator,
I don't understand why people
want to make of this game an Arcade
shooter !:hmm:

The purpose of simulation is to get you close to reality,
as close as possible , cause it will never give you the
headhake that those guys had....
However you can try to get close if you dive inside
a barrel !

But this is the game, the fun and purpose of the
Modders in the SHIII Moding community is to
bring you guys closer to that simulation by hading
more reality into those Campaign files and Cfg files,
and this way give you a preaty much improved simulator !

If you want a easy game play the stock game !

Hi JCWolf,

not trying to start a long discussion, just giving a simplified answer to a question, which can be answered in many different ways:

as long as we are many subsimmers there will be many different ways of playing the game. Some, as yourself, feel this is your chance of having an experience so close to reality as possible. And hats off to that!

But some other people just don't have the patience, the time or the desire to give that much amount of energy into this game.

Anyway, hats off to the GWX team for their contribution!

Best regards

This is ******* amazing!

I've honestly never seen such a genuine and commited mod. I'm used to mods (not for SH3) being fairly poor excuses where the modder has basically just abused the game within its current confines to give the illusion that it's different. Each and every component of this looks like a monumental task for anyone with a life to get on with, and I can't even imagine how some of these ideas were implemented. I don't doubt with a bit of funding you'd be able to make your own bloody sub sim.

I couldn't run GWX 1.3, but at this point I'm prepared to sit through several hours downloading just to see if the space time continuum might change reality and make it work this time. That or I'll try and manipulate it til it does. With your permission...(hint :p).

Default Wolfpacks and playable subs in 2.0?

Congratulation GWX team on your latest & greatest accomplishment. I just joined Subsim after having been an avid lurker for the last year or so (this is my first post). Can't wait for the pending fallout with my wife once 2.0 becomes available and I am not.

Just one quick question. I know I read in an earlier update that there might be wolf pack capabilities and that non-german subs would be able to potentially attack german subs or be killed by a german sub. Did these 2 features actually make it into version 2.0?

Thanks in advance

Hi Full Salvo, and welcome aboard!

Both of the points you raised where in GWX 1.3 in a basic way. There were enemy subs that you had to keep an eye out for. You did see AI german subs heading into port as you were leaving. There were wolf packs, but they were a little limited in what they could do.

From what I've been able to gather, there has been a great improvement in the GWX 2.0. The creators of this wonderful mod may tell us more, but then again, we will find out in the near future, won't we!

@BBW
About an hour or so. Was bored at work and thought it to be a good idea. Glad you approve
Been following the sneak peeks quite religiously and can't wait to get my hands on GWX 2.0. And I'm reasonably sure I'm not alone

@Capa.
Surely there will be someone around to make you a DVD and send it to you by mail in case your web connection isn't up to the download!

Connections fine, only 512kbps down but it's hardly dial up. I meant more that it probably won't run. :hmm:

Oh. ok. That's another topic then
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you then. Even updated my system to more RAM in order to make it work. But with my rather old specs it runs pretty nicely apart from the long loading times (which are mostly a result of all the addon ships I'm using). Does stock SH3 1,4b run with your system?

If yes: what I can recommend - if you got the disk space:
In case you don't already have a second partition, create one, and run a second fresh Windows installation with all major stuff deactivated:
- no printer spooler
- no internet services
- no USB (in case you don't need it for the mouse)
- no LAN
- all services deactived that don't have to do with playing.
This will considerably reduce your Memory load when Windows is running
Then give Windows a large pagefile of approx. 2048 MB.
You'd be surprised how fast your computer can be.

There's even a tool around that checks your system for running services you don't need for playing and deactivates them. It's called FS Autostart and was made for MS Flight Simulator. Quite a neat tool that even gives you tips which services to deactivate and which to leave on.

OOOO!

Thanks for the tips. I'll probably try some of that now regardless of GWX. I've stopped a few useless services but I never really thought of it in terms of how much performance they eat. Shame I need my USB though.

1.4b does work though, yes.

Edit: That picture is true art. ^

If 1.4b does work you should get GWX working as well. It doesn't need THAT much resources. As I said: keep my fingers crossed for you!
