For the uninformed, 'Wazzock' roughly translates to mean

1. wazzock

origin - Northern England
An idiot or daft person
Ahh yer g'ert wazzock

2. wazzock
Mild insult, one who is foolish, one who has made an arse of themselves, one who is rather daft.
'person x is a pompous wazzock'

3. wazzock
Popularised by Tony Capstick (in "Capstick Comes Home") in 1981 and used since as a minor insult (similar to how "idiot" is used as an insult).

Originally meant "bull's penis" (originally described to me as "bull's *****"). See also "wazz" for another derivative of this sense of the word. Whether it was ever applied to other animals or humans I don't know - but as "wazz" is used for human urination in the West and North of England, I'd imagine so.

Was fairly rare in Yorkshire before Capstick's popularisation of it in 1981.

You great useless spawny-eyed parrot-faced wazzock

I sincerely hope this has cleared up any confusion

Dinsdale lives on! This is proof that after failing miserably with his invention of 80-grit toilet paper, Dinsdale changed his name to Carcharadidntdoitdon and began a research project into Windows installation procedures. Looks like when he releases his universal uninstall program it will make us all forget about how harmful viruses are.

Not my real name ? I should bloody hope this is not my real name I'd be inside right now doing hard time for the murder of my parents if this was my real name. I wanted Carcharadon of Great White Shark fame but I decided to make it silly at the same time by adding 'didn't do it' into the word .

I have no idea who this Dinsdale character you refer to is.

Sorry, I had no idea you would take me seriously there. I was just having fun with your de-installation boo-boo. Hope you followed the link in reallydedpoet's post to get some background on our inside Dinsdale running joke. And after you do that, you're an official insider! Welcome to subsim and we're glad to have you here.

OOOO I can see how you were offended if you though I might be accusing you of inventing 80-grit toilet paper....... bad choice there, certainly no one would believe thet YOU would invent something like that? But you thought I was calling you not you so the possibility is somewhat open.....would you believe 60-grit wet/dry toilet paper?

It appears that i too have been misunderstood due this time to my lack of smiley use

I was merely attempting a humourous reply but ah well.

This is i imagine how things can degenerate into chaos and flaming

Watch it bub, we have a severe smiley shortage here at SUBSIM. That evil other forum stole 'em all.
