Default Beware NVidias latest driver

Installed NVidia's 163.69 only because GameShadow recommended it. SH4 then began to crash in the middle of campaign episodes. Uninstalled and reloaded 162.22. Everything is fine now.

Just trying to save others some pain here

Default The nuclear option

Format the hard drive and install a shiny new copy of Windows XP Media edition. When I built my computer in February I bought XP Media Edition, which came with a free upgrade to Vista. I sent for and received Vista, which is occupying a space of honor on my shelf with no plans to install it any time soon. Best place for I say!

you can't reformat then install XPSP2?

it's sad, but this is what happens when you buy OEM(apple, dell, et al...), rather than build your own rig. let this be a lesson:p

Same experience here as well. However the problem effected my entire pc. Constant "blue screen" from jump. Shortest lived driver I ever installed. BTW...OS is XP.

Default First time for everything

Just had a little catastrophe. South China sea. Radar contact: 2 ships moving fast in my general direction. @#$@#! Full ahead at 90º to their track moving away, must be destroyers! A few minutes later...No, lets check it out--periscope depth!

Contact! Merchant! Surface, come left 180º. Ahead emergency! Plot, can we intercept? Yeah, barely, you chicken. All hands battle stations! We'll set up for a Dick O'Kane, set speed 17 knots. AoB 70º starboard! All torpedoes 10 feet fast setting!

Lots of twiddling around and setting up and two large old passenger liners lumber my way at 17 knots 1½ miles apart. We'll take out the first, the second will have plenty of time to turn tail. We'll chase with our deck gun and finish him off with a torpedo or 2.

Three shots, three hits on Sorry Maru #1. He's sinking. Second ship shows his better side and runs. We surface and chase, pouring HE into him to slow his arse down. It's getting hot and heavy 30 minutes later. I'm going crazy going back and forth to the radar screen looking for his bomber friends, He's settling noticeabley by the stern but still running like hell. I'm gaining getting ready for the coup de grace and

CRASH!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I overstressed something and it wasn't on the submarine! What's this? Auto-reboot. Whooey! When we crash, we CRASH. "Windows has recovered from a serious error, blah, blah, blah, press this button." Ok, (press)

Browser says I crashed two nVidia 7600GT cards in an SLI configuration. Oops. Guess it's time to check this out. SUBSIM time and here is the thread. Found out I was running 162.18. Installed 163.71 and turned logging on. If I'm going to have a problem, I sure know how to produce it! Hehehehehehehe.

Thanks guys, you were on the spot with what I needed when I needed it. Hope the AI generates the same two turkeys and I get another shot at em. That was fun.
