Beware NVidias latest driver

Installed NVidia's 163.69 only because GameShadow recommended it. SH4 then began to crash in the middle of campaign episodes. Uninstalled and reloaded 162.22. Everything is fine now.

Just trying to save others some pain here

I'm assuming you have Vista?

barndog 09-22-07 10:32 AM

Yes the new puter came with it

And this computer will NOT accept a roll-back to XP

Wish I could but can not

The nuclear option

Format the hard drive and install a shiny new copy of Windows XP Media edition. When I built my computer in February I bought XP Media Edition, which came with a free upgrade to Vista. I sent for and received Vista, which is occupying a space of honor on my shelf with no plans to install it any time soon. Best place for I say!

How about the newer version: 163.71 ???
I hear it has versions for XP and Vista, 32 & 64 bit (DX9 & DX10)

you can't reformat then install XPSP2?

it's sad, but this is what happens when you buy OEM(apple, dell, et al...), rather than build your own rig. let this be a lesson:p :D

It's still a beta, caution is advised.... ;)

barndog 09-22-07 08:00 PM

No the hardware is built for vista

No drivers for motherboard, HD controllers, etc

sqk7744 09-23-07 08:42 PM

XP is safe again ;)

I'm sure if you find out the actual components you can find drivers for XP, if they're not supported out of the box.
