Awesome CC I just need to look at it though because mine is showing 2 "Crash Dive" Icons and the Weather Icon Text is referring to Search Pattern :hmm:

Hey Captain, whats the patrol radius of your patterns? Can they be reduced?

Reason I ask is sometimes on patrol the vanilla SH4 pattern takes me outside the 100 nm patrol zone...I think until I return to within that 100 nm pattern the clock on my patrol stops.

Making what should have been a 48hr patrol into 60, 72 hr patrol...

Great work by the way thank you!

I basically used what was already in the game but not used. To tweak that might need some serious tinkering as its all "Coordinates" and stuff. Have not really looked in to it yet.

Weather report is in station 4 and you have to be on the surface for it to work.

I will look in to the text stuff and upload a fix later today.

Once you have the buttons working you can make custom search
patterns using Mission editor. the "Pattern"mis files are under

Data/Menu/gui/Patterns I think check with CC though as I dont
have sh4 installed at the moment.
M

@CC Wow Nice expansion.

Thanks, Mush

They are in data\menu\patterns.
Thanks much for that info, Mush. I see a whole world of search and evasive action paths opening up Now I also see a good use for that 11th station on the HUD that I added. Maybe there's room for a 12th station, too! Buttons, buttons and more buttons!

Oops, spoke too soon. When I try to open the pattern files up with the mission editor, it crashes. Is there some kind of trick to editing the pattern files, or is it something that must be done manually?

Re-edit:Because the boats in the patterns were German, I got the idea to reinstall SH3 and use its mission editor. It was worth the effort since it will open the pattern missions. Now to create one and see if it can be used in game.

Re-re-edit:No joy adding a search pattern (even if you change the .cfg file for the patterns), but you can edit the patterns with the SH3 mission editor to change them to your liking.

I forgot to tell everyone about that sorry my bad.

the original single search pattern in sh4 is the original 1st pattern
in sh3 its a leftover

if you try then to open any of the sh4 patterns with the sh4 editor
it will crash as the sub doesnt appear in sh4

so the solution is either make one from scratch using the sh4 mission editor

or

use the sh3 mission editor which is what I did during proof of concept.

regards
MM

CaptainCox, which lines in menu.txt did you modify/add for this mod? I already have a highly modified menu.txt file, so I'd like to add in your modifications without undoing the other work I've done to the file.
