Great stuff! The 1908 one, according to the site, isn't really a color photograph, but it is really amazing!

Does that guys stand on the ropes all night to stop the sub drifting?

I know Bernard is a idiot, but theres no need to be cruel and give him orders like that!

I just told him, you can step of the rope when the Battleship King George V with Winston churchill himself onboard was floating right in front of you.:rotfl:

Bottom one is U-302 at Danzig working up prior to commissioning, Summer '42.
Top one is U-253 at Hela also in '42.

You're right, it's not a "true" color photo in the sense that it was not taken using color film, but it also a step above colorizing a black and white photo by painting it. Basically, the photographer would take 3 identical B & W images of the same scene, and then he would place each image onto a seperate colored plate (blue, red, green), and project the three images over the colors onto a spot on the wall, where the "true" color of the photo would be exposed. Something like that. So, it wasn't captured using color, but it still shows the true color of the scene, nonetheless.
