I have a wonderful little story (it really happened) involving Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again. Have to doctor it up a little bit so it will fit this forum. I'll try to post it tomorrow.

Most of them I got from http://www.u-boot.realsimulation.com/ but I also got others from various free sites.

In fact, I just recently found this site (below) with old-time propaganda music that was transmitted over to the US, Britain, and Canada. It's Charlie and His Orchestra by Karl Schwendler. I'm not sure if U-Boat captains would listen to it, but it sets the mood for me.

The original MS was in an old computer, but I found the story on an old E-zine:

Whenever we sink a ship, my crew forms a conga line and we play All Over the Place. In convoy action we wait 'til Tommy is finished knocking barnacles and rust off our hull.

(Does anyone know the origin of this song? It seems it might have come from a musical play or show)

That was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade... one of the best Jones movies yet.

IT'S ALIVE!

I'll listen to pretty much anything on my hard drive while I'm sailing around: Gogol Bordello, Soundgarden, Heep, the Stones. Whichever suits my mood. But I do like the in-house music and news broadcast sound packs that I find here. TarJak put one together that mimics atmospheric interference, so you get this sound quality that is close to true-to-life experience. There's another music pack that I use from here that includes It's a Long Way to Tipperary and some interesting German songs. I don't recall the name of it right offhand, though.
