Somewhere in all my books I have a picture of a P-47 (Jug, 7-ton Milk Bottle, etc.), and the nose art is of a topless person of the female persuasion, and the name of the plane is 'Two Big and Too Heavy'.

I was about to release Rita Hayworth on this thread but I didn't want to give anyone a heart attack so I backed off a little.

"Put the blame on me, boys! Put the blame on me!" If you don't know what I am talking about then go rent Gilda! (Unless of course you are hellas1:rotfl: just poking a little fun )

A submarine that never had a pin-up is a sub that never had a crew.

LOL!

The movie "Run Silent Run Deep" When battle stations sounded the crew would leave the mess and pat their Pin up Girl on her end as they made for their stations.

I agree with the historic effect here. Our men went to battle with many female art forms. Wether it be on the nose of aircraft, on the ship, or on the ground.
It is HISTORY, I have yet to see any crude links or pics from this site.
I myself love the girl art from the wars.
If you want to be historically correct, it happened, and that is the way it was and is.
I see no harm in this action to post pics from the history we all know here.
Just my opinion only, no harm is meant by how I feel.

Not sure, but after reading hellas1's post's, I can't help but get the feeling that he'd really get bent out of shape if we had pics with a Swastika on it, claiming that it is a hateful symbol and it should not be used because it "may" offend someone here.

What may not seem appropriate today, does not change the fact that it was still part of history. It was this thinking that caused Sim Developers to not use the historic symbol on German WW2 aircraft (without a MOD or patch) cough..UBI..cough.

Same thinking caused museums to paint over the Swastika on historic aircraft.

Again, my point is, just because it may not be acceptable now, does not change the fact that it's historic. As long as the pin ups and even the Swastika are used in the proper context for the time period, I'm 100% in favor of them in Sims.

Default Regarding my initial post & your responses

Hello everyone,

I now consider the use of the phrase "pimps and pimpettes" to be wrong.

My point was this: "Use discretion when posting what you post. This is a public site, not private."

I want to hear what ladies, who have a presence here, think about this stuff. No poster in this thread said they were a woman.

I often find that women interested in WW2 and it's history/machinery are not offended by a simple pin-up. Like most men, they are totally into the study of WW2 or totally not. Like my wife, "We are not watching another black and white bang bang movie again are we?" OK, totally not into it.

Now, Penelope Grey who plays SH3 is about 20 years old and smokes cigars. She has never found anything offending on the pin-up for the uboats. She is super nice to talk too. Again, if they are totally into it then it usually is not an issue.

Brings me to my question....You want to hear it from the ladies...to what end?

Hey, this is "the internets". You can pretend to be anybody.
Really man, there is some serious and gross stuff happening out there in this world. Your percieved discrimination against women on a subsim website is *not* one of them. Take a chill pill. Or I will. I can't take much more of this, especially now that the thread was just headed the right way with some nice pics.
Is this how they indoctrinate people today in public schools? Look, the Nazis usually had no boobs on their airplanes, but children friendly Mickey Mouses, Teddy Bears and what not. Political Correctness right there. Sure the Nazi leaders got a huge bonus for that once in hell.

In fact, if I were a woman, by now I would probably be offended by being put into victimhood in such a moronic discussion. "Hey, are you not offended by boobs on a Thunderbolt? Are you not? Hey, speak up please, will ya? Are you not?" :rotfl:

Anyway. I like this one:

Seriously, I think that the art is just that, art, and inspiring to those who view it. Who hasn't looked at a "buy war bonds" poster and thought about what it was like surrounded by that all the time? The art is gentler, pre-photo with stylized lines (even the "neked" bits). The judge who said you'd know porn if you saw it was right ~ otherwise it's good looking people on a piece of paper.

I also think that people had more freedom and could personalize their machines to humanize them; make them more a friend like many of us view our cars. However, nowadays almost nothing is personalized, which may be why it is such a shock to see military craft painted by hand and images from the imagination of those who flew or cared for the machines.

How many people have tried to paint something recently?

Regarding pimps or pimpettes, my only question is whether those are equal careers that pay the same?
