Yup, I love my deck gun, too! I also like raking fishing vessels and other small craft with my AA until blood runs from the scuppers. Great fun!

Using my 37mm flack gun when I had Stock Sh3 I could sink coastal and small merchants. GWX means its deck or nothing.

In Stock Sh3 I have sunk around 100,000 with the deck gun alone (there use to be a place where unescorted liners would come through like clock work in a two year time frame.

GWX I have sunk 36,000 with the deck gun, but as the years pass (i'm into 1943) the deck gun is getting less and less use.

My Dad once after getting fustrated with torpedo missings surfaced and duked a Flower Corvy with his deck gun, I was calling him an idiot the whole time but he killed the bugger, He rammed it once or twice too, (you know the whole sliding along the side and waving to the crew on the ship while you slide by rammings) :p

Yes, many people have mentioned the deck gun as very satisfying since it makes you feel like a pirate praying on the weak and lone merchants

I use deck gun when ever possible... trying to save torps for later

Usually if the ship is big I fire one torp first, if one torp doesn't sink it, I surface and finish it with the deck gun.

Here's another deckgun related question...

If you give your watch officer a gunner/flak gunner qualification, does it affect the skill of your deck/flack gun crew?

And who actually uses Starshells???

I think the qualifications only increase the accuracy of AI gunnery.
By the way, I tried to use the deck gun on my VIIC in 1940, getting 60k tonnage

In GWX, having an officer & PO gunner qualified makes a BIG difference, in accuracy, effectiveness and speed of reloading. Earlier, I mentioned sinking a ship with four shots. That was with gunner officer and PO.

Happy shooting, Mates.

I can see a major increase in tonnage coming up...
