Stay away from shallow water!

Seriously the best thing you can do is stry to stay as quiet as possible and use alternating 10 degrees rudder along a line of escape to the nearest deep water.

More than likely though if they find you, they will probably kill you in such shallow water.

If there is only one of them you could go on the attack and try to sink him before he sinks you.

A lot will depend on what level of enemy crew ability you cop. If you are late war and they are elite, you don;t stand much chance. If early war and they are dumb you should be able to sneak away.

I note you said it was a patrol boat. They don't normally carry DC's but are good at calling in support that does. Was it really an Elco or other patrol boat or a corvette, trawler or destroyer? This makes a bit of difference as to the tactics that are available to you.

Check out the newbies guide sticky in this forum for other advice on how to evade.

Good Luck!

Mate! Thats death!

The DC'S will reach your boot in a fwe seconds!

Make sure you have at least 50+ meters in early war and 180+ in late war under Keel.

Cargo ship + shallows + greed = end of carrer.

If it's just a patrol boat and no escorts you could hit flank, surface and try to gun it out.

Unfortunatly this isn't fair because pt boats don't use their torps.

yes dont even attack nothing in the shallows, if i see ac onvoy the first thing i do is check the depth if its shallow ill leave the convoy alone. only attack if the conditions are aptimal.

In such situation I will surface and engage, aiming for the deck hoping he will lost his manoeuvre capacity before damaging me to much. And go back under water
