I was once assigned a grid in the middle of Spain :hmm:

No problem for me

Just sailed to the coastline and took a tour bus inland

I don't know how this is simulated in Sh3 but i can't believe that using up batteries will increase your range. I would think your range will become less. You will use more diesel to recharge your batteries when doing so.

Unfortunately recharging batteries doesn't consume any fuel, nor in vanilla, nor GWX. I try not to exploit that bug, but it spoils the game a bit I think, especially later in the war, when you spend more time submerged.
