BdU must think I'm stupid.

Or, perhaps, very expendible. Here it is, November 1943. I'm attached to the 11th Flotilla in Bergen, Norway.

So, where is my patrol area?

BF27, in the friggin' Bay of Biscay.

Sorry Uncle Karl, get one of those pansies from Low-rent or Breast to do that. I'm gonna hang out in the NorthWest Approaches (far out to sea, of course).

I ended up heading for AM17, and am currently in contact (submerged) with a nice juicy convoy. A J-Class destroyer just passed 300 meters behind me, and never noticed me.

I'll have to try Murmansk next. I have a schnorkel, so the planes are somewhat less of a worry.

I sailed from Norway, so it should be "I was Bjorn at night, but it wasn't last night".

Pinin' for the fjords right now. Sank a T-3, hits on two other ships with no results seen, and I'm running along at about 1.5 knots at 148 meters while a couple of escorts are dropping their cans on shadows. Not at silent running, though. I want to get my tubes reloaded before I come up again.

Does this mean that u-boats based at La Rochelle are now being sent to Norway? Or Poland?

They are sending Type II's to the Caribbean. They are issuing them with extra bedsheets and instructions on how to improvise a sail using the 'asparagus'.

Ole 01-19-07 02:58 AM

in the beginning in 1939, my boat had not enough fuel to reach the target areas. i tried my best, diving everytime when battery was recovered 100%. that was still hard to go that far. i remember a patrol, i arrived in the bay of wilhemshaven and the engine stopped, fuel empty, i went further on battery and could luckily finish my patrol.
