What is the benefit of having the PSU on the bottom as opposed to the top like most cases are set up? I see Mr Chris has his PSU on the bottom
Sweet rig Mr Chris

Room for big fan at the top. They say these cases have better airflow; hot air rises. Hot air from PSU and other components rises to top and is exhausted by big ass fan.

Just a comment of curiosity!! When you look at the box layout all the cards are facing down so you only see the soldered side of the boards, wouldn't it be better to have the motherboard mounted on the opposite side so that you can see the component side, would look a lot nicer. Maybe it's for dust purposes that they keep the components on the underside, Do they actually make a case with left & right reversed? or is this a left/right hand thing?

I would guess a dust thing also. Imagine getting dust out of the diodes, Then again, there is a fan blowing across it anyway. Who knows. Yeah I bet it keeps it cool. You see in mine the sideways mount for the CPU cooler? I was a bit leary about this set up and the performance. It works very well. Blows the heat back towards the larger exhaust fan. As you can see the intake fan right on top of the CPU fan area. Constantly pushing cool air to the CPU fan and the CPU fan pushing it out. You can not see it but behind the little radiator type deal for the CPU there is a vent that channels air to the mobo itself.

I think a lot of it is just pure tradition. Cards have been mounted in that direction for ages now going back to the first IBM PCs (an i think even earlier then that)

You spend a small fortune for a hot vid card that also LOOKS cool and nobody can see it.
It just figures. |

Since everyone is showing off their computer rigs I may as well do the same:
I installed the blue light to get a little more speed and power, though I left out the pin striping just in case the old girl couldn't handle it!!

Nice rig Reece. What does the silver knob on the top of the case do for you? Also, the thick white and thick black cables to the back, what do that service for you?

Fan speed control set by large silver knob. Fan speed display for 4 fans. Temperature with supplied sensors for 4 devices. (CPU, GPU, PSU, Interior) Total Power consumed by computer, on a sliding scale. (hovers around 257watts) Quote:
