They're not E\F Super Hornets that much is certain. Could also be used as part of a Navy/Marine Coprs tech school as well. Everyone just about that was a crew dog went to Sheppard AFB there where several old F-16,15 and A-10 airframes along with all the heavies except the B-2 though there was a trainer B-1B used for different static training for example for the ammo troops to learn how to load up different airframes. So they may be getting used for that purpose.

The old war horse CH-46 soon will be completely retired currently only a few USMC reserve squadrons still flying the Prog. USN already retired Thiers.

Of course the AV-8B will also have its sunset soon they'll be gone by 2019. That there is the earlier AV-8A /C which was retired in 87.

Some 'top guns' STAY 'top gun'

Yipes! is that REAL! It needs to be indoors!Joseph Jacob "Joe" Foss (April 17, 1915–January 1, 2003) was the leading fighter ace of the United States Marine Corps during World War II and a 1943 recipient of the Medal of Honor, recognizing his role in the air combat during the Guadalcanal Campaign. In postwar years, he achieved fame as a General in the Air National Guard, the 20thGovernor of South Dakota, President of the National Rifle Association, and the first commissioner of the American Football League, as well as a television broadcaster. WIKI 'In three months of sustained combat, Foss's Flying Circus with two sections Foss nicknamed "Farm Boys" and "City Slickers."had shot down 72 Japanese aircraft, including 26 credited to him. Upon matching the record of 26 kills held by America's top World War I ace, Eddie Rickenbacker, Foss was accorded the honor of becoming America's first "ace-of-aces" in World War II'. He was shot down twice achieving it!

Default Great photos

nikimcbee, you have "the eye", those are some great photos.

The F4F close-up with Foss' kills, is amazing. I would love to make that my desk-top background photo, if that is OK with you.
