In the meantime, let's get a pinch more detail from you. The merchants that you sank, were they all from the same convoy, or just single or double ship encounters? Were there any escorts accompanying them, and if so, did you happen to ID them? It'd make identification of the surroundings groups a pinch easier, although, where you are, there could be the SubHunter group, Jap_HarborTraffic groups (lots of them), CoastalTraffic, and all the TaskForce, Convoy, etc. groups that would generate in that area, besides the ones that terminate near there... We might try disabling the groups in the area one at a time, or playing the game with them only, one at a time, and see if we can get a run-a-way spawn...

You know, I just happened to think (look-out!) - when we tried removing the SubHunter groups before, we didn't disable the file in the Campaign.cfg, we just deleted the files in the folder, although I doubt if that'd matter... I also wonder if doing a GE campaign during that same time frame and being in that area, with the GE Campaign files would get the same thing? I'll look at the folder structure differences, and see what's up. Later.

Edit 1005 1108: say cdrsubron7, your second screen grab, there in post #2499, the close-up, is that the East coast of Izu-Oshima Island, the bigger one to the South and outside the bay? Or is that the East coast of the peninsula to the East of the bay?
The merchants were all the same convoy, two Kiturin and one Horai. No escorts on this convoy. The second screen grab is just a closeup of the first one.

Looking at the groups in the area there cdrsubron7, the most obvious groups to have DD vessels in them are the Troop Transport groups, with a lot of them set to have 4DD of the same class, whether it'd be Akizuki, Asashio, Shiratsuyu, Mutsuki, or GENERIC. The relation is usually 2 DD per TT ship. Nine of those groups originate in Tokyo, eight of them terminate there, with most of them set to spawn at a 70% rate every several hundred hours (10-12 days). Not suspicious that you would have a bunch of Akizuki coming after you, and it could be that two Troop Transport groups, with 4x Akizuki each could in theory have 2 or 3 from each coming your way. That, however, is not a spawn issue.

There could also be a couple of TF groups, with one outbound and two inbound. They all have calls for GENERIC CL vessels... maybe it is an issue...

The SubHunter groups, Group 074 is suspicious, in that it is set to "Start" on January 1st, 1938, and quit on December 31, 1945. We'll have to change this when we re-do things.

The FastMerchants Group from the Convoys stuff is supposedly not operating at the time of your incident, but might have still been out there finishing up its last run (doubtful). It only has 1x GENERIC DD in it, 2x GENERIC DE, but has a call for a Naka CL. Bunch of Merchant vessels. The other groups in the Convoys stuff would only have GENERIC DD or DE, and between 6 and 10 merchant vessels. You might also see CVE, and/or Seaplane Tenders, and/or TT, etc. in those. Of the "Coastal" stuff, only one group comes close to you, and that has a single Medium Composite Freighter. Maybe one of the ones you sank? The Harbor Traffic doesn't come close to your location...

The Merchants groups are a couple of vessels in each of about potentially 8 groups in the area, with 2 GENERIC freighters, or the one has 2x GENERIC tankers.

I'm stumped. All I can figure is it's a problem with a few little settings being off. The nearest RGG is roughly 35nm from where you are... Nothing sticks out as an obvious culprit.
If it helps any, pb, the DDs were coming from Tokyo Bay. That I'm positive of.

Were there other vessels in the group, or did you "get 'em all"?

Were you able to find them on external camera, and see how many there were, or maybe in the periscope / binoculars?

Have you got just the v028 beta installed, and nothing else? maybe the maru names (which shouldn't affect this)?

Just visual on the lone Akizuki that you saw on the Nav map.

I do have the Maru Mod installed, but as you say it should have no effect as it only changes names on the merchants and has nothing to do with destroyers.

Cool. So it's basically just the game. Do you happen to have "Stock" v1.5 of the game available on your computer? I do, and I'm going to go ahead and do a new career in it. What is your home port for this mission, and what was your assignment? Do you know what patrol this was for you, like one two three, or more... ??

Edit 1400 EST 1108: Forgot to ask you cdrsubron7: Did you start with an empty "Save" folder in My Documents?

I do have "Stock v1.5". Home base was Midway. Started new career and this was patrol #2. Patrol area assigned was on the first screenie I posted earlier.

OK, I've left Midway in a Porpoise boat on January 6th 1943 on my way to Section 7 for further instructions. I'll go there first, and then stop by Tokyo neighborhood on my way home. I also started a Sugar boat on December 8th, 1941 and I'm in the Marshalls on patrol for the last few days. Leaving Midway January 3rd, 1943 in Stock, enroute to Patrol off Honshu... We'll see if I get anything in any of them... I'm using lots of TC to speed things along, and I hope I don't get too many aircraft...

On a serious note, before I start to check the missions files for PP, I have a problem with the 21 Class=Fleet Tender.

Can anyone actually see any flags flying on either of the ships, do the ship names show up in game / mission or musesum?

I'm ahving all the above problems, however when I first set the tenders to Class 21 everything was working great - but now....

Awhile back you asked me if I could see flags on either the US SubTender or the IJN. You must have missed my answer. When looking in the Museum I see nether Japanese or American flags on the individual SubTenders. Just thought you'd like to know, s7rikeback.

sorry, i must have missed it.

Ok time to dive to sleep Depth - I have a whole day of tinkering tomorrow to try and find a fix for the tenders.

I can't get the Museum to run on my little dual core anymore, and that's the machine I'm on now. I do not remember flags on the vessels when I was downstairs though... How important is it to have the Rising Sun flag on a support vessel? From what I can tell, they were run by IJN sailors, under the IJN's direction (for the most part), so technically, they are warships, just in the support column. There is a "Type16=Elite Patrol Craft" and "Type17=Elite Destroyer Escort", of which I know the Type=17 is in use in a few scenarios. I do not recall seeing a Type=16 in use though, so perhaps we could rename it and call it for the Warship Support?? CapnScurvy?? I'll do a "Search" through all the MIS files and see if I can find a Type=16 in use... Otherwise, it's Type=100 for Replenishment and a meatball flag... which might be easier to deal with - "Emulate Stock"...

Edit 1955: OK, neither is currently in use. I'd say the Type=16 is available to use for Type16=Fleet Warship Support Vessel, or whatever, and eliminate the Type=21 experiment...
