Danke Hans,

You made me a happy man!

Thank You very much for uploading the preview.

It´s absolutely fantastic! This is what I was waiting for, a historical accurate IX C/40. Your eye for detail is simply amazing, look at the screws which put the parts of the air-intake tube together, not speaking about the highly detailed hull or Snorkel mast. If this is 90%, than the stock model is about 25%.

I´m looking forward to see this model intergated into your HAHD Mod, this will truely bring the game to a new level!

Viele Grüsse, Kurfürst

Hi mate,

I knew this one would put a smile on your face i am glad you like it just imagine after the paint shop with highly weathering by the way any suggestion for the emblem?

And what i mean by 90% is that the model is complete to 90% as you can see the snorkel head is not done and i need to finish the deck planking and the capstan.

The conning tower is also at the exact correct height because i use measurement .

Best regards Hans

Horrido Hans,

I still have that smile on my face; if I didn´t have ears that smile would go around my whole head!

If You don´t mind I wouldn´t put an emblem on the conning tower at all.
Most of the late IX C/40 boats I know of didn´t have one or carried the flotillas emblem in front of the tower.
I think that a highly weatherded look will give the U-Boat enough "character".

But the choice is yours!

Hi kurfürst,

Yep that what i taught and my metallic specular trick will do a great job showing the weathered conning tower.

I will also do custom water hole particle system to illustrate large water stream going out of the side holes.

It will look a whole lot better with the quad mount and other flak on deck.

Best regards Hans

Hi Guys just wondering what the procedure was for operation of the Torpedo Tube doors.
I take it there were two doors an Inner and an Outer, but how were these activated - were there separate controls for each or were both linked together.

Is stock behavior correct were we just have one open/close switch to flood the tubes, or should there be two sets of switches. 1 to flood the tubes and 2 to open/close outer door

Any material around on authentic operations of this system and any other would be greatly appreciated. Would like to see what may be possible to bring to SH3 to make it closer to the real thing. Simulating proper control systems - rather than arcade like selection of one button does all.

Hope to see whats possible to bring to HAHD in this area.

There were 2 doors, exactly as you see now in the game, though operated independently, I'll explain why: The outer, elongated one is just part of the careenage of the boat, i.e. of the external hull with hidrodynamic shape and is surrounded out and inside by the external water that enters between both hulls -external and pressure. Then the second one (round, smaller) is what effectively leaves the torpedo exposed for shooting. This one is only opened after pressure equalization with the exterior water. If the boat changes deep you would need to equalize pressure again (Otherwise you would not be able to open the external door if higher pressure outside, or the torpedo would be sucked out before firing if less pressure outside) but this is not reflected in the game. For this reason both operated independently.
