Can't believe Gaithersburgs Inet is that crappy. On the other hand, if it somewhere like in the outskirts of Frederick, yea.. then it is bad! One stiff breeze and zap.. off you go.

Friend of mine near Dulles cancelled his internet for being useless.
The Ubi dummies never studied internet problems. This will bite them harder than expected.

It is absurd that I wouldn't be able to play SH5 when I have no internet connection...

I already did it.
Petition #1129.
"Ubisoft requires a beter way to protect their games against piracy. Permanent connection to Internet in a single player game like Silent Hunter 5 is insane!."

Also I canceled my pre-order on Amazon several days ago.

Ubisucks must listen to us the customers!.

SINGLE PLAYER OFFLINE or else.....

If SH5 gets good ratings/reviews, I will consider getting it if I have the money to spare...
The present DRM, on the other hands, is a bit of a turn off.
(the save online only nonsense is another major turn off)

I lack a router, and if I want to play a PC game, I don't want to be unable to play it because my DSL modem is hooked up to a game console that is doing updates or DLC downloading at the time.
I would feel sorry for a friend of mine if he had a game with such DRM. Bad weather causes his DSL connection to act odd and randomly loose connection at random times.
Can you imagine that? You're stalking a convoy, bad weather brews up IRL, and the game keeps 'pausing' or whatever because the connection gets a bit spotty?
Heck, I've had cable TV just 'go out' at night at rare times, and not get fixed for many hours (like not coming back on until in the morning), so I am guessing it might also cause problems for anyone in the area that has a cable modem and games late in the night.
Just to many things that could go wrong with the 'must always be online' bit.

I want to play games when I want to play them, not restricted to times when my DSL modem is hooked up to my PC and actually turned on.

Overall...
signed.
