Default Submarine sighted, Friend or Foe?

Well? Any ideas how to tell if she's friendly or not?

Eventually, she start zig-zagging after my periscope is up long enough. I fired a 2 torp spread, sinking her with 1 hit. Strangely, my log book didn't record any kills.

Any one have this happened before?

If the vessel starts zig-zaggin` , it's a foe. Strangely, the crew on the cargoships and warships can determin if your own u-boat is friend or enemy from an incredible distance, and even from the sighting of your scope...Weird...:hmm:

Maybe the merchants already have prior information of any friendly U-Boats operating in various Grids, and your U-boat was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time

If I were a merchant ship in the Atlantic, I would presume all submarines to be hostile, whether I could tell the difference or not.

Thanks all! So I won't be facing a court martial on my way home. But how come I didn't get credit for sinking it?

Maybe because you didn't sink it? It probably decided to crash dive
