It is good work. Steady. Show up when scheduled, ready to go to work, on time, and do your job. That is pretty much all you have to do. Once you can get more than 6 years in, you are pretty much guaranteed against layoffs, unless you are management. You may have to move (they are closing/consolidating some facilities) but at least you keep the job - unlike some other corporations who have announced big layoffs recently...

Again, I wish you luck.

So true...so true. I've never worked an easier job than my time as an automation clerk....load the machine of mail, fix jams when people send keys in the regular mail and spend 10 minutes in downtime cleaning the mail that was ripped in the process, pull the mail off of the slots and place in the sleaves for banding. Granted...my time as a custodial laborer was even better before moving to the facility I did.

Default First Day

Well,

My orientation day went really good. I was given a phone number for someone in the district hr regarding reinstatement and will be calling them tomorrow. My shift is 'Tour 1' and from 11pm-8am. Glad to be back in government employment again as out of 12 casuals hired, I'm one of 4 who aren't "christmas only" casuals and will come back after christmas.
