Default Corrupted Mission File

Is there a way to repair a corrupted mission file? It is 1943 and I'm in Osaka Harbor. It was tough getting in there, but I made it. After RECON, I started back to a deep hole and layed on the bottom for a day. I noticed that the TIME COMPRESSION would not go over four (4). I saved the file and reloaded. I get the "Silent Hunter IV" has encountered a problem" message. I tried reloading other saved files with the same result. Next, I reloaded 1.5, but without success. The fact that no saved file will load properly leads me to believe that it is not the saved file, but something else. Any suggestions? I would hate to have to start over again. Thanks Dead in the water Old_tex

I have noticed that t/c will not go beyond 4x if you are close to hitting a island. It gives you a chance to change course. Could that have been it maybe?

I generally do not save under water. I have had saved game load problems and the only way around it is to save multiple times. I started saving twice, but now have 3 saved game files. If none of your saved game files work, I'd try reloading the In Port save before the mission. You would have to run the mission again but at least you wouldn't have to start a new career. Good luck.

They say saving while submerged is not a good idea, however I have never had a problem.

Im afraid if the save is corrupted is your screwed, your only hope is to fall back to a previous save. That is why I save early and save often. I probably save at least 6 to 8 times a patrol session and that does not include the in base saves. I keep 4 save slots and over right them in order.

As to the TC not being able to go past 4x it was probably because you were close to or on the bottom. Its sort of a safety feature to keep you from slamming into the bottom by accident. That dammed 'D' key can be leathal.

Always keep your last Auto_Leaving_Port save. That way if all your personal saves corrupt (which is what usually happens) you can start from port again and not lose your entire career.

Now that is strange... How could all of the saves be corrupted?

You didn't add or remove a mod while you were on the bootom, did you?

What has happened to Tex has happened to me many times, for reasons I've never figured out. If one save is corrupted they all are. I have no idea how that can happen but it does. That is why I always save my last Autoleaving_Base save.

Default No Change

Nope, didn't change anything. Had a good career going from1941 thru 1943. As I said, I notices that the time compression was not working right, so saved and got out of the program. Re-entered and none of the saves would load properly. I think it is in the mission loader part of the program and not the saves. Or, a corrupted save moves a data pointer and things go haywire. Something like that. I restarted a new career and am off again. Oh, well. Old_tex
