Google for it!

Everything that has to with naval operations during World War II is scripted into GWX.
Well, not in some parts of the world, events are not wholly depicted into GWX: try running the Battle of Leyte Gulf or Surigao Strait in your PC!

But the whole u-boat experience would come into its own in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans!

you can intercept some good task forces in the north sea between Lerwick and Northern Norway if you play your cards right.

Just hang out off the coast of Norway, contact reports will flow like wine.

I'll add that the Dunkirk evacuation is mostly unprotected by sea (if i remember correctly) so its a buffet if you can time it right

The GWX manual is a great history lesson and will give you advance warning of scripted historical events.
There are also a few mods that will give you a couple of days notice of these events, both through radio messages and through the SH3 Commander loading screens. If you're close enough to them, you can change your course and get involved in the fun.

More info is on the thread at the end of my signature block.

I agree. Although the information is certainly there, it reads like a history text book. That happens to have been my worst subject. Perhaps a summary section for each event would allow us to get the pertinant details quickly? I honestly did try, as stated in the OP.
