Perhaps you are near a scort carrier or something like this.
i remember a convoy attack and was very difficult for the planes circling the zone, finally i sunk the carrier in a periscope depth attack at night. ![]() As in real life an aircraft makes the submarine life a misery and the best is navigate in deck awash to reduce the dive times.or finally use a snorkel with radar detectors.

I mean in game time, I experienced 7-8 flights attack my sub in a time, then I crash dive and, go up again after few mins, then the flights come again, this time 4-5 !! Sometimes 1-2 flights will crash into the sea that my sub has not shooting them. It's fantastic and make me confuse, I think it's a bud. Frankly, it's so many buds during my several missions (not at the 9 misson since 1939). But my ver is updated to 1.4b. Thank you |

Correct, in stock SH3 there is way too much unfriendly air traffic, than there was historically, especialy in the early stage of war. I tried the stock career once a month ago, and it really scared the sh** out of me.
With that 8 km atmoshphere, horrible crew spotting distance and all of those airplanes buzzing around frequently, makes me feel GWX is much more safer place to be ![]() |

I think the trade off as far as stock SH3 is concerned is 'too much air traffic...but easy to shoot down'

Remember high TC will lead to less aircraft sightings. up too 128TC you should not notice any drop off of aircaft sighting as the war goes on. But any higher you start to have less sightings. Hope this helps ![]() Good hunting

Do you remain surfaced and fight (some players actually 'tweak' the basic CFG file and give themselves extra ammo).....or do you remain prudent and dive upon sighting aircraft (as most Kaleuns did in RL....apart from a brief spell when Doenitz ordered them to remain on the surface and 'tough it out'). The choices are yours to make. ![]() |

Go to: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX2.1\data\Cfg
Now open up the Basic CFG file. Scroll down to: [SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS1] ;105mm MaxAmmoPerSlot=250 [SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS2] ;88mm MaxAmmoPerSlot=250 [SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS3] ;37mm MaxAmmoPerSlot=2000 [SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS4] ;20mm ;MaxAmmoPerSlot=2000 MaxAmmoPerSlot=3000 Change the Slot values to those in yellow. Now scroll down to: [AMMO_TYPE0];10.5cm SK C/32 Idx=0 Year=1939 Month=1 ;AP=40 ;HE=250 ;SS=20 AP=0 HE=250 SS=0 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE1];8.8cm SK C/35 Idx=1 Year=1939 Month=1 ;AP=40 ;HE=250 ;SS=40 AP=0 HE=250 SS=0 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE2];3.7cm FK M 42 Twin Idx=2 Year=1943 Month=12 AP=3200 AA=3400 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE3];3.7cm FK M 42 Idx=3 Year=1943 Month=6 AP=2000 AA=2400 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE4];3.7cm SK C/30 Idx=4 Year=1939 Month=1 AP=1000 AA=2000 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE5];2cm FK C/38 Flakvierling Idx=5 Year=1943 Month=1 AP=6000 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE6];2cm FK C/30 Flakzwiling Idx=6 Year=1940 Month=7 AP=4000 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE7];2cm FK C/38 Idx=7 Year=1943 Month=1 AP=2000 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE8];2cm FK C/30 Idx=8 Year=1939 Month=1 AP=2000 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE9];2cm FK C/38 Flakzwiling XXI Idx=9 Year=1944 Month=4 AP=4000 Renown=0 [AMMO_TYPE10];2cm FK C/38 Flakzwiling Idx=10 Year=1943 Month=7 AP=4000 Renown=0 Change the values to those that are in yellow. DON'T GO CRAZY WITH HIGH NUMBERS OR YOU WILL BREAK YOUR INSTALLATION.....AND BACKUP THE BASIC CFG BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT THE CHANGES Good Luck ![]() |

Curiosity:
Is the ammount and type of ammo in GWX 2.1 historic, or meant to prevent you from fighting on the surface? |

As an example. There are sources out there that state approx 130/150 105mm shells were carried, but Clay Blair states one particular Type IX carried 355. Have a look at Uboat net etc and come to your own conclusion. ![]() |

'Type VIIB and VIICs carried around 250 rds for the 88mm and about 4380 rds for the 20mm flak gun (or guns)... Later during the war, when the large deck guns were being removed, there was room to carry more anti-aircraft ammunition.'
U-boat Combat Missions, Lawrence Paterson. Captains could carry additional ammunition if they thought they were likely to need it so tweaking your ammunition levels is well within the bounds of realism. Jim has kindly given us the ability to tweak these values to our own preferred amount. ![]()

Thanks guys. I tend to be a good shot in GWX, and make good use of the deck gun in fair weather. Such a captain would surely be entitled to an extra allotment of shells.
