I guess this is why my big Suzuki has been running like crap since August, isn't there supposed to be a hole in these pilot jets?

What kind of problems have you been having specifically? I mean, apart form owning a heavy Suzuki instead of a nice, light, CBR 1000? ![]() Having problems with idling?

Might be worth checking your needles whilst you have them handy. I have traced
more than one problem engine down to worn needles. The wear can be hard to spot too. *edit* If you are really, really lucky a local mechanic might have a jet-testing box.

Neal, you got it peg on the pilot jets plug, look like you are getting
eveything clean, One more thing to check, open the throttles valves (put something in to hold it open) and blow air though the pilot screw and check that there is air coming out of the tranfer ports under the throttle valves, some times the ports can get plug up to. I wish I could help with the carbs, but you are on top of it I can tell. Kyle |

Thanks, Kyle, good point, I will do that. I'm going to make sure the transfer ports are as clean as possible before putting it back together. ![]() Quote:

I was actually just referring to the jets, assumed a mechanic had "repaired" your bike and used the parts shown!! ![]() ![]()

One thing I likes about those carb set ups are that they are easy to work on...get you a pipe cleaner and some carb cleaner...make sure the floats are adjusted when putting em back together...if you do alot of hwy riding try a one or two step larger jet! Need help call me...LOL

Just for fun, dump the current jets you have and get larger jets. Do as Letum said. Check the needles. Sometimes just dirt and sometimes a previous owner, the maker or shop will crank the needled down until they bottom. Sometimes this will cause a ridge to form around the need shaft. More often than not these are brass and brass is a soft metal. Also, let your carbs sit over night in carb cleaner. Spare no expense on a new carb kit with new gaskets. Of all the mechanical parts on your bike, the carb is the most finicky so pay particular attention to the spec when you rebuild the carbs. Mikhayl is correct also, get a carb synch. Once you have the carbs rebuilt and clean. Adjust the jets until they bottom(do not force them hard in the seats). Then turn each back 2-3 turns. See how she runs.
