Can't spell Thach, don't realise that HMS Marlborough is no longer with the Royal Navy.

At best Kapitan should be very careful about posting items like this without getting confirmation from multiple sources. At worst - well, I'll leave that to the moderators to deal with.

Im not one to pick on grammer or spelling but the article does not capitalize Atlantic, conference is misspelled, dissaperance misspelled, hell even torpedoe is misspelled. Oh is The Sunn really spelled with two n's?

So yea... looks like a hoax. I just wonder what the motivation is.

This was something a friend of mine came up with but cant you guys read above UK JKS (UK Jokes) (it wouldnt let me write the whole shebang) it is fully fictional hence why there are delibrate spelling mistakes and the vessels involved are either tied up at dock (HMS Trafalgar) decomissioned or not even stationed in the atlantic.

The idea was to see the reaction that british people took to the loss of a submarine or major naval unit (i adapted it because it was ment to involve the carrier ark royal) so far ive had alot of negative reactions which include so what its a ship, dont care dont involve me and one odd one saying we are getting two more to replace it so what the hell.

I think this proves beyond doubt that british people obviously do not care about thier troops sailors or indeed any millatry establishment which is why i posted here to see if the international community would care, you guys obviously do to the point your willing to hang me from the nearest lamp post, but this is for research it does sound sick i know im sorry but i wanted to know what the people thought of a situation like this should it happen.

and frankly alot of people dont care about our service men and women enough.

Your not the first group ive targeted with a secnario like this infact your one from last ive reported this for the last two months getting feedback from other groups it does come at a time when moral is low in our forces and ive even asked a few service personell thier thoughts.

The reason i had to do it this way was because it had to be believable so you would comment in a normal way thus not giving a bias or diffrent reaction.

But this scenario is entirely fictitious and i ask that i can copy all the comments here posted and print them for my use if everyone is willing.

Thankyou and sorry to fool you in such a way.

I took the story as gospel and just put the spelling mistakes down to lousy typing. I'm suprised at this: I think this proves beyond doubt that british people obviously do not care about thier troops sailors or indeed any millatry establishment. Still, thank god it's ficticious.

If it was a major event i would have posted the links and been rather quick to do that the link that i think subman posted about trafalgar defects from the sun proves that obviously our own government doesnt care anymore which is what im trying to get at.

The british people need a big injection of patriotism because right now alot of us couldnt care less and id bet some cant even point to us on the map, which brings me to a conclusion of why the hell should any of our service men fight and die to be ignored.

As my nan said "60years ago your grandfather fought for the right to be free if he had been alive today it would have killed him" (he is deceased) i think we do take for granted all this freedom and few of us are willing to contribute towards maintaining it.

1. I don't get text speak
2. You posted something on a forum where people have at least a cursory if not deeper knowledge and interest in submarine matters and will immediately try to verify it as real or not. Given that it was exposed as a fake pretty quickly you got the response you did.

If you posted it in a general public forum like the Sun forums then you might get a differenct reaction.

Yes your correct i did post in a few other areas my local rover owners club and also another website.

I picked this forum because i knew the reaction would be dig dig dig because you do feel the pride in your millatry and allies and also other nations.

Like myself im more a supporter of russian millatry than the UK despite the fact im from the UK i did feel alot of shock from the kursk, however the UK hasnt lost a nuclear submarine or a submarine for a long time so i dont think we understand the issue of it to well as a ordinary person.

Scorpion thresher kursk provoked a national out cry yet we lost 8 ships in the falklands and not even got close to a sneeze we have lulled ourselves into a false confidence and this is what i am trying to understand.

Did I read this right: he did this for what he labelled as "research"?

Strange methodology, then. I have seen psychological thought experiences that were less ill-constructed.

Observation for the other side of the pond ... REAL BAD idea. Like crying "fire" in a theatre where there is no fire.
