i think your only hope was maybe a tanker could be sent to refuel you but with no engines i think you would be told to just skuttle the boat when a ship arived to pick you up rather than take the risk of losing another ship in a towing attempt.

you would be like fresh meat in a shark tank

I don't know where they got the idea you were asking for a tow home.... ....quite a leap there.

There were indeed a couple of recorded instances where submarines were disabled or grounded and had to call for help from friendly forces. Some were taken aboard other vessels and thus rescued..some were never found.

Sadly as you observed , there is no such radio for help option at your disposal.

On the other hand ,if that were a solution you could readily employ just to avoid watching your speed, range, and fuel consumption...then I must say that would be an immersion killer too..big time.

Just didn't sound that way to me.

Apologies.

Well I'm going to press this issue because Abandon ship is a big deal to me. I am not asking for a tow home or a press this button to win, nor do I have 15,000 + posts:
Quote:
(And for the new guys that are going to pop in and tell me that the sub tender does set up refit stations during the war, the sub tender does nothing!)
However - for example: On her 5th war patrol during the night of 13-14 August 1942 S-39 (SS-144) ran aground off Rossel Island in the Coral Sea. All hands were rescued 16 August by the Bathurst class corvette HMAS Katoomba.

An Abandon ship option with three random outcomes; KIA, POW, or rescued would be historically accurate. The OP said he could see land.

I can turn this around too: Just because SH3 & SH4 don't have that option doesn't mean it didn't happen. I am not requesting a sub Tender and a tow, merely the chance for a rescue to save my crew.

Hopefully this feature will be an option in a future mod even if I have to learn how to do it myself... lol

Look Im not trying to razz or belitlle your posts. Just trying to have a little fun.

Simple fact is it is not in the game.

This topic has been discussed ad nausiem since the day of release. Its still not in the game nor will it ever be in this version.

The developers most likely would have liked to include such an option but as they say ~fly endless time~
