Ugh, I used get these things all the time. Still recovering from one, in fact.

Traditional treatment: lots of fluids, sleep like a sloth, and try to do something to make yourself sweat. The crap in the nasal passages is the worst part. Oh, and try to get in a mile-or-so run if possible (after the worst of the symptoms have passed). Works wonders for temporary decongesting.

Just got over mine... very similar symptoms. I recommend lots of Vitamin C, Echinacea tea and Tylenol PM (contains a antihistamine to dry out the nasal passages) and lets you sleep more soundly.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sweatfest 2008. My wife does that to me. Absolute bloody torture the teaspoon of vicks in a bucket of just boiled water.

All I can suggest is plenty of rest, lots of fluids (not booze obviously), cold and flu tablets or Lemsip.

Hope you get better soon.

So what i am wondering is what are some home remedy's for head colds in your country/state/province/kingdom/etc? What gets you back on your feet the quickest?
You may want to have the doctor precribe a dose pack of anti-biotics, you may have a sinus infection.

Before you get in, take (eat) a tablespoon full off Tabasco sauce. It may cause cardiac arrest though.

Sniffing boiling vinegar-laced water clears out the nasal passages nicely. It also has a tendency to clear out the house rather quickly.

In the tabasco department, I just remembered being told once that hot Chinese mustard can do the trick. And no, don't sniff it, just eat some of the stuff. Never tried it myself, though.

If it persists, you should probably follow Neal's advice. That sounds pretty bad.

Thanks for all the advice Gents. I'm feeling somewhat better, well enough to go to work tomorrow anyways.

Rose took good care of me with Vicks vaporub and some stuff called "Cold EEZ".
